Calling all budding paleontologists! Set up camp on Jurassic Island, uncover a land forgotten by time, and unearth the incredible secrets of the dinosaurs and their ancient ecosystems. Work together to complete dino-themed STEAM challenges while having a blast!

Grey Seal Puppets Presents "A Tangle of Tales"

Grey Seal Puppets created original puppet theatre, on-camera productions, and custom-built puppets and mascots. Three favorite folk tales from around the world come to life with a touch of the familiar and a taste of the new in A Tangle of Tales.

Seeds of a Nation: Tracing Colonial Ancestors
Thursday, July 9 at 11 a.m.

Discover how colonial records can bring your early American ancestors to life. This program will explore how to locate and use land grants, deeds, wills, probate files, and other colonial-era documents to strengthen your family history research. While the focus will be on North Carolina local collections, we’ll also touch on resources from the other colonies to help broaden your search.
 
Presented by the North Carolina Room of the Forsyth County Public Library.

Echoes of 1776: a 250th Anniversary Experience 
Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
 
Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary at the Lewisville Branch Library with a day of history brought to life!
 
Starting at 11 a.m., Professor Bill Partin will present Revolutionary Women: Heroines of the American Revolution and discuss the courage, intelligence, and influence of women who helped shape our nation’s fight for independence. 
 
At 1 p.m., step into the past with our live and interactive wax museum, where visitors can “meet” and converse with figures from the Revolutionary era. 
 
Also, at 1 p.m., children can drop in to create patriotic arts and craft at our monthly Mini Masters Art Adventures program located in our Storytime Room. 
 
Concluding at 3 p.m., The Battle of Shallow Ford: An Exhibition of Words and Watercolors exhibit and reception. This blends storytelling and watercolor to interpret a pivotal local Revolutionary War event.  
 
Rick Jones’s watercolors and Marilyn Ingram’s researched storyboards tell the story of the Revolutionary skirmish at the Shallow Ford. the work draws on sources including the North Carolina State Archives and features scenes of the ford, nearby Moravian settlements along the Great Wagon
Road, and the Huntsville commemoration.  
 
Refreshments will be served during the exhibition.

Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. 
 
Join us to share, discuss, and recommend favorite books in a relaxed and welcoming group setting. There’s no pre-set reading list, so bring whatever you’re currently reading, loving, or wanting to talk about. The group is geared toward men, but all are welcome.

Tai Chi in Park
Tai Chi for Beginners

Learn the calming practice of Tai Chi at the Lewisville Branch Library. This form of low-impact exercise and deep breathing is known to reduce stress and improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
 
An exercise waiver is required, and attendees younger than 18 must have a parental/guardian's signature. Registration opens two weeks before the July 10 and July 24 class and is required.  
Lewisville Historical Society presents ...
"Battle of Shallow Ford: An Exhibition of Words and Watercolors" featuring Rick Jones and Marilyn Ingram
Monday, July 13 at 6 p.m.

Enjoy an evening of art and discussion of this exquisite exhibit celebrating America's 250th anniversary. This collection of "watercolors" by master craftsman Rick Jones is accompanied by storyboards and "words" by artist and writer, Marilyn Ingram. The paintings include scenes at the Shallow Ford and nearby battle area, Moravian settlements along the great wagon road, and annual commemoration in Huntsville, NC. 
 

In partnership with the Lewisville Branch, the Lewisville Historical Society will present bimonthly to the community on topics ranging from local history to information about historical sites to antiquities. Participants do not need to be members of the society to attend. Free and open to the public.

Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafting

Our monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafting group is a great way to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape!

Belly Dancing for Beginners

Get your shimmy on! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join us at Belly Dancing for Beginners. Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. The classes are recommended for adults 55+ and suitable for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels.

FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest

Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift card to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 12. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 14.

Multipurpose Room
 
Forsyth County Department of Social Services (DSS) staff members will be on site one day per week to answer residents’ questions, provide information, and help people apply for DSS services including energy programs, food and nutrition assistance, and Medicaid.
DSS will also provide on-site assistance and case follow-up for Forsyth County residents with active DSS cases. 
 
No appointment necessary.

Blood Pressure Stations  

High blood pressure has no symptoms, so know your numbers by checking your blood pressure at the Lewisville Branch Library. Eight Forsyth County Public Library branches including the Lewisville Branch Library have self-monitoring blood pressure stations and health information as part of the American Heart Association's Libraries with Heart program.

As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members.
