Bright Star Touring Theatre Presents: The Wizard of Oz Wednesday, July 2 at 10 a.m. Auditorium Follow comic duo Lenny and Mabel down the yellow brick road to the land of Oz and meet all of your favorite characters along the way! Gain courage with the Cowardly Lion, take heart with the Tin Man, and find your wits with the Scarecrow in this fun interactive retelling of the L. Frank Baum classic. This play, presented by Bright Star Theatre, is fun for all ages! Sponsored by the Friends of the Lewisville Library.

Color Your World with Mad Science of the Triad Wednesday, July 9 at 4 p.m. Auditorium Mad Science of the Triad is headed to the Forsyth County Libraries! Enjoy exciting science experiments that Color Your World! Vibrant chemical reactions and colorful creations will captivate kids ages 4-11 and inspire a love of science and reading!

Storytime with the Piedmont Opera Tuesday, July 15 at 10 a.m. Auditorium We're partnering with the Piedmont Opera to offer a Storytime performance like no other! A professional opera singer will present a story, explain elements of their profession, and stay for a meet and greet session. Join us for a glamorous operatic Storytime at your library!

Auditorium Learn about the basics of color theory and ways to create dimension at the Lewisville Branch Library. Students will apply the concepts taught by local artist Nannette Davis using the mediums of watercolor paint and colored pencil. This class is for adults though ages 14 and above are welcome. Three class dates will be offered. Please sign up for one class only. Registration is required and limited to 10 persons per class. Registration opens Monday, June 30 at 9 a.m. for all classes. Color Your World with the NC Aquarium! Wednesday, July 16 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Come color along with us on a journey through nature's coloring book as we explore all the ways animals use color and pattern to navigate their environments. Then see for yourself how the aquarium’s ambassador animals use their colors and patterns to hide or warn others to stay far away. Good for all ages!

Put your puzzling skills to the test with this fun, team-based competition. Teams with up to four participants will have five hours to complete an identical 1,000-piece puzzle. The winning team will receive a prize. All teams will be given the same puzzle. Recommended for adults and teens.

Hook & Loop Group Wednesday, July 2 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns we have on hand. All skill levels are welcome. Personal Finance: You Can Bank On It Tuesday, July 8 from 5:30-7 p.m. Auditorium Learn about financial products and services that may be available at your financial institution and how you can use them to benefit your financial future. Rhett Kyle, an agent of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Forsyth County Center, will be the presenter. Registration is required. Books for Dudes Book Club Thursday, July 10 at 6 p.m. Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome.

Lewisville Historical Society Presents ... Monday, July 14 at 6 p.m. Mary Alice Warren Community Center Travel through Lewisville's Sharon United Methodist Church's 200+ years of history at the next meeting of the Lewisville Historical Society. In partnership with the Lewisville Branch Library, the Lewisville Historical Society hosts bimonthly presentations ranging from local history to information about historical sites to antiquities. Read more about the July 14 program on our branch news page. Participants do not need to be members of the society to attend. A short business meeting of the society is held before the featured program begins at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments are served. Programs are free and open to the public. Galloway Reynolds Community Center Our monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafting group is a great way to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape! The Write Stuff Wednesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. Auditorium The Write Stuff is a peer-to-peer writing group where writers aspiring and published authors of all types can brainstorm, provide feedback, and offer accountability to those seeking to finish their writing projects. The group is facilitated by local writing enthusiast Clay Stuart.

FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest Logs due Dec. 13 Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 13. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 15.

Book Babies Little ones will explore board books, fingerplays, and lap-bounce activities to encourage language development, brain stimulation, and socialization. Connect with other parents too! Recommended for children up to 18 months and their caregivers.

Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Through stories and interactive play, toddlers will build language skills and discover new words while exploring letters and sounds. They'll learn with music, picture books, rhymes, and even explore other languages. Recommended for children 18-36 months and their caregivers.

Preschool StorytimeTuesdays at 10 a.m. Preschoolers will develop language and pre-reading skills through stories and songs to help facilitate their growth into successful readers. Recommended for 3-5-year-olds and their caregivers.

Family-Friendly Film: Dog Man (PG) Wednesday, July 2 at 5:30 p.m. Auditorium When a dog and a police officer are injured together on the job, a life-saving surgery changes the course of history. Half dog, half man, Dog Man is sworn to protect and serve as he doggedly pursues his arch-nemesis: the feline supervillain Petey the Cat. Stuffie Sleepover Wednesday, July 23 at 3 p.m. Auditorium Stuffie Sleepover at the Library! Put on your PJs and bring your favorite stuffed animal for a special Stuffie Sleepover at the library! We’ll start with a cozy Storytime and craft, then tuck our stuffies in for a night of fun adventures. While the library sleeps, who knows what they will get into! When you return the next day to pick up your stuffed friend, you’ll receive a photo book filled with snapshots of all their antics.

As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start. The board meets at the Lewisville Branch Library every third Monday at 6:30 p.m. except in July.

You can also join their Facebook page, even if you're not a member. All funds raised by the Friends support the Lewisville Branch Library in many wonderful ways--providing new books, audiobooks, DVDs, library supplies, programs and other much-needed items.
