Eldercare Series: Understanding Trauma and PTSD in Older Adults
Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m.

Over 50% of adults have experienced a trauma in their lifetime. Up to 4% of older adults are living with post-traumatic stress disorder. In this session you will learn about the causes and symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and treatments available to address it.
 
This is part of a series of programs on eldercare presented by the Geriatric Adult Specialty Team (GAST) of Partners Health Management. GAST is charged with increasing the community’s knowledge and understanding of mental health and substance use issues facing older adults. These programs are for the general public as well as for caregivers and those working in care centers needing continuing education credits. Review the full Eldercare series schedule here. Books for Dudes Book Club

Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome. The group meets every second Thursday at 6 p.m.

Virtual Lunch & Learn Series with the N.C. Cooperative Extension: Learn Tips for Healthy Aging

We are all aging but how we do it is up to us. This workshop which will provide tips for healthy aging that include learning how to live a healthier lifestyle; move more; reduce salt, fat and sugar; manage chronic illnesses; and give back by volunteering. If you wish to participate from home, you may register directly with the N.C. Cooperative Extension through Eventbrite
 
These are a series of virtual workshops that feature a new topic each month related to Family and Consumer Sciences. Each workshop is part of the 2024 Extension at Home Series: Helping You Improve Your Life, brought to you by a collaboration of N.C. Cooperative Extension Agents and hosted by the Lewisville Branch Library. 
Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafts

Our monthly Witchy Washy and Whatnot Craft group is a great way to meet other crafters, and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape! Space and supplies are limited to first 12 registrants, so call the branch at 336-703-2940 to reserve your spot.

Get your shimmy on! Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. Lewisville Branch Reading Contest
Reading Logs due Saturday, Dec. 14

Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bookmarks bookstore. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels.

Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're
 entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 14, 2023. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 16.

Nature Notebooks
Now until May 31
 
Pick up your Nature Notebook at the Lewisville Branch Library while supplies last. Find plants that are native to North Carolina in the wild and draw them. When you’ve drawn a plan in each required category, bring your notebook to the Lewisville Branch Library by May 31 for a prize. Each Nature Notebook comes with a packet of wildflower seeds.
