Archaeology of the Yadkin River Valley Tuesday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Auditorium Explore the long history of Indigenous communities who lived along the Yadkin River Valley long before European settlement through archeology and anthropology.
Dr. Andrew W. Gurstelle of the Timothy S.Y. Lam Museum of Anthropology at Wake Forest University will discuss the cultures, technologies, and daily lives of Native peoples in the North Carolina Piedmont, including how artifacts, settlement patterns, and trade networks help researchers understand the past.

Junk Journal Demonstration Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Get inspired and get creative at our Junk Journal Demonstration! Discover how to turn everyday papers, ephemera, and found treasures into a one-of-a-kind keepsake you can do at home.
Learn simple binding techniques, layering tips, and creative embellishment ideas you can use to start (or enhance!) your own junk journal. Perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike — come see how beautiful “junk” can become! This event is facilitated by local artist Corneille Cecil.

Snack Around the World Monday, June 22 at 4 p.m. Auditorium Tweens and teens can sample international treats from a surprise country and discover fun cultural facts along the way. No passport required, just an adventurous appetite. Program recommended for tweens and teens ages 11-18. Supplies are limited. Registration and signed food waiver required.

T-Rex Tea Party Tuesday, June 30 at 2 p.m. Auditorium Stomp into the library for tea with a dinosaur twist. Children are invited to enjoy stories, crafts, games, and more. Feel free to dress up in your tea party or dinosaur (or both) finest!

Hook & Loop Group Wednesday, June 3 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns we have on hand. All skill levels are welcome. Books for Dudes Book Club Thursday, June 11 at 6 p.m. Do you like to read? Curious what other people are reading? Want to get back into reading but don’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us to share, discuss, and recommend favorite books in a relaxed and welcoming group setting. There’s no pre-set reading list, so bring whatever you’re currently reading, loving, or wanting to talk about. The group is geared toward men, but all are welcome.

Tai Chi for Beginners Friday, June 12 and 26 at 2 p.m. Auditorium Learn the calming practice of Tai Chi at the Lewisville Branch Library. This form of low-impact exercise and deep breathing is known to reduce stress and improve balance, strength, and flexibility. An exercise waiver is required, and attendees younger than 18 must have a parental/guardian's signature. Registration opens two weeks before the June 12 and June 26 class and is required.

Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafting Wednesday, June 17 at 10 a.m. Auditorium Our monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafting group is a great way to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape! Space and supplies are limited, and registration is required.

Belly Dancing for Beginners Friday, June 19 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Get your shimmy on! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join us at Belly Dancing for Beginners. Learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. The classes are recommended for adults 55+ and suitable for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. A signed waiver is required to participate. Call the library at 336-703-2940 for more information. Summer Kick Off Blood Drive Wednesday, June 24 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Parking Lot The American Red Cross mobile lab will be onsite at the Lewisville Branch Library on Wednesday, June 24 for blood and platelet donations. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Make an Appointment: To make an appointment for our blood drive, please contact the Lewisville Branch Library at 336-703-2940 or register online. Appointments are in 15-minute increments, and you can use the RapidPass option the day of the drive to help decrease your wait time. Walk-ins are also welcome. Visit the American Red Cross website for tips on things to do before, during, and after your blood donation.

FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest Logs due Dec. 13
Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift card to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 12. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 14.

Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group for Teens Monday, June 1 and 15 from 4-5:30 p.m. Auditorium Have you ever wanted to learn to play Dungeons & Dragons? Are you an experienced player who would like a place to meet up and have adventures? Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group! Pokémon Club Wednesday, June 3 at 4 p.m. Auditorium Play battle games, meet up with other fans, trade cards, and more at the Pokémon Club. The Lewisville Branch chapter of the club meets every first Wednesday, and the Clemmons Branch Chapter meets on the third Wednesday of the month. Players of all abilities are welcome. Program is recommended for children, teens, tweens, and families.

Friends Annual Meeting The meeting has been postponed until Saturday, Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lewisville Branch Library. Friends Ongoing Book Sale The Friends ongoing book sale is always open during library hours. PRICES: Hardbacks - $2 Paperbacks - $1 Children's books - $.50 Movies, music, audiobooks - $2 Magazines - $.25 Become a Friends Board Member The Friends of the Lewisville Library Board is looking for new members. As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start. The next board meeting will be on Monday, May 18 at 6 p.m. The Friends of the Lewisville Library is an independent nonprofit organization and not a department, division, or agent of the County or the Library.
