Library Movie Matinee: The Public (PG-13) Wednesday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m. Auditorium A librarian helps a group of homeless people take refuge from a brutal winter night by staging a sit-in at the free public library. A misunderstanding causes his noble act to wrongly escalate into a hostage situation with a political candidate and a TV reporter stoking the drama for their own agendas. Library Escape Room Saturday, April 25 from 1-3 p.m. Can you escape the librarian's office with the candy before you get shushed? Put your puzzle-solving skills to the test in this library-themed escape room! Work with friends to uncover clues, crack codes, and beat the clock before the librarian returns. Celebrate National Library Week with a fun, brain-bending challenge just for tweens and teens! We will run three sessions of the escape room between 1-3 p.m.: - 1-1:30 p.m.

- 2:20-2:50 p.m.
Please note in your registration which session you would prefer and we will do our best to accommodate your request. Recommended for children and teens ages 10-18.

Hook & Loop Group Wednesday, April 1 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Bring your own project to work on or use some simple supplies and patterns we have on hand. All skill levels are welcome. Books for Dudes Book Club Thursday, April 9 at 6 p.m. Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome.

Belly Dancing for Beginners Friday, April 17 at 11 a.m. Auditorium Get your shimmy on! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join us at Belly Dancing for Beginners. learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest Logs due Dec. 13
Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift card to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 12. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 14.

Toddler Storytime Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Children will build language skills, explore letters and sounds, and discover new words through stories, music, rhymes, and interactive play.

Preschool Storytime Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Children will grow into successful readers through stories, songs, and activities.

Family Storytime Thursday, April 16 at 6:30 p.m. Children will enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that promote a love for books and reading with family and friends. Recommended for children ages 6 and under and their caregivers.

Pokémon Club Wednesday, April 1 at 4 p.m. Auditorium Play battle games, meet up with other fans, trade cards, and more at the Pokémon Club. The Lewisville Branch chapter of the club meets every first Wednesday, and the Clemmons Branch Chapter meets on the third Wednesday of the month. Players of all abilities are welcome. Program is recommended for children, teens, tweens, and families.

Friends Annual Meeting Join the Friends on Saturday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. for their annual meeting. Meet the board, learn about their services and find out how to get involved. Members and nonmembers are welcome. Light refreshments provided. Friends Ongoing Book Sale The Friends ongoing book sale is always open during library hours. PRICES: Hardbacks - $2 Paperbacks - $1 Children's books - $.50 Movies, music, audiobooks - $2 Magazines - $.25 Become a Friends Board Member The Friends of the Lewisville Library Board is looking for new members. As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start. The board meets at the Lewisville Branch Library every third Monday at 2 p.m. except in January, July and December. The next meeting will be on Monday, March 16 at 2 p.m. The Friends of the Lewisville Library is an independent nonprofit organization and not a department, division, or agent of the County or the Library.
