Fun Fatale Trio Fall Concert
Friday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.

Come to the fall concert of the Fun Fatale Trio to hear the sounds of this acoustic band of vocal harmonies, guitar, fiddle, and upright bass. The Trio delivers a high level of musicianship while playing selections from the pages of the Great American Songbook, classic country hits, and other musical genres.
Zombify a Barbie
Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 4 p.m.
Auditorium
 
Get creepy and creative while transforming old dolls into spooky zombie Barbies using paint, fabric, and your imagination. We'll also have a fun selection of horror books to inspire your spooky creations. Supplies are limited. Registration required. Recommended for children ages 9-15.
Skeletons in the Family Closet
Thursday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.

Digging up the history of ancestors may reveal information that some would prefer to stay buried, but genealogists have ways to tackle sensitive information when they find it. Learn how to avoid hurt feelings and family tension when you find “skeletons” in your family closet. For more information, contact the Lewisville Branch at 336-703-2940.

Come and join yarn crafters who like to knit, crochet, embroider, and such. Share each other’s company and maybe a tip or two about a project. Belly Dancing for Beginners
Friday, Oct. 3 at 11 a.m.

Get your shimmy on! Put on some comfortable clothes and shoes and join us at Belly Dancing for Beginners. learn the basic moves of this beautiful dance form as we bring people of all ages together to promote health, happiness, and community. The classes are recommended for adults 55+ and suitable for all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels. 
 
A signed waiver is required to participate. Call the library at

Books for Dudes Book Club
Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m.

Are you a dude who likes to read? Are you a dude who is curious what other dudes are reading? Are you a dude who wants to get back into reading, but doesn’t know where to start? Then the Lewisville Branch Library has the perfect book club for you. Join us as dudes share, discuss, and recommend their favorite books to other dudes. There will not be a pre-set reading list. The group is recommended for dudes, but all are welcome. 
Color & Coffee

Unwind with a relaxing morning of coloring, coffee, and community. Coloring sheets, colored pencils, and coffee will be provided. Call 336-703-2940 for more information.   
Tai Chi for Beginners
Wednesday, Oct. 8 and Friday, Oct. 24 at 2 p.m.

Learn the calming practice of Tai Chi at the Lewisville Branch Library. This form of low-impact exercise and deep breathing is known to reduce stress and improve balance, strength, and flexibility.
 
An exercise waiver is required, and attendees younger than 18 must have a parental/guardian's signature. Registration opens two weeks before the Oct. 8 and Oct. 24 classes and is required.  
Witchy Washi & Whatnot Crafting
Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.

Our monthly Witchy Washy & Whatnot Crafting group is a great way to meet other crafters and learn to make all sorts of fun projects, many of which include the use of washi tape! 
Space and supplies are limited, and registration is required. 
Computer Training Bridge: Introduction to Google Docs

The Write Stuff

The Write Stuff is a peer-to-peer writing group where writers aspiring and published authors of all types can brainstorm, provide feedback, and offer accountability to those seeking to finish their writing projects. The group is facilitated by local writing enthusiast Clay Stuart.
FCPL Lewisville Branch Reading Contest
Logs due Dec. 13

Take part our yearlong reading contest for your chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Bookmarks. The contest has two levels: Beginner and Aficionado. You can choose to read one or both levels. Beginner entries are entered once. Aficionado entries are entered twice, and if both levels are completed, you're entered four times to win. Submit entries by Saturday, Dec. 13. The winner will be announced on Monday, Dec. 15.

Mondays at 9:30 a.m.

Read and sing with your baby while exposing them to new sights, sounds, and expressions during this fun and lively Storytime.
 
Recommended for babies up to 18 months and their caregivers.
 
Toddler Storytime
Mondays at 10:30 a.m.

Children will build language skills, explore letters and sounds, and discover new words through stories, music, rhymes, and interactive play.
 
Recommended for children ages 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. 
Preschool Storytime
Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

Children will grow into successful readers through stories, songs, and activities.
 
Recommended for children ages 3-5 and their caregivers. 
Family Storytime

Pokémon Club

Play battle games, meet up with other fans, trade cards, and more at the Pokémon Club. The Lewisville Branch chapter of the club meets every first Wednesday, and the Clemmons Branch Chapter meets on the third Wednesday of the month. Players of all abilities are welcome. Program is recommended for children, teens, tweens, and families.
Family-Friendly Film: How to Train Your Dragon (PG)

Join the Lewisville Branch Dungeons & Dragons meetup group! The game board, dice, and character sheets will be provided. This program is recommended for teens, but all are welcome. Join us for a hands-on workshop on job skills and interview tips. Learn how to craft a great résumé, make a positive impression, and ace your interview. Program presented by Greater Winston-Salem Inc. Recommended for teens ages 13-18.
Eat Smart With MyPlate: Introduction to MyPlate
Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m.

Kids will have fun learning about healthy eating, smart food choices, and nutrition through hands-on activities, games, and delicious food demos. This program is a great way to build healthy habits. This month, kids will learn about the MyPlate Model, the five food groups, and the benefits of each food group. Registration is required. Recommended for children ages 6-11.
Make & Take Crafts for Kids

Kids will be able to make a spooky puppet. While

Halloween Search & Find

Friends of the Lewisville Library

We'd like to express our deepest appreciation to the Friends of the Lewisville Library for all their hard work organizing the September fall book sale. Their dedication to the Lewisville Branch Library and their community is inspiring.
 
The sale was a huge success with 303 attendees. By the end of third day, the sale raised $2,536.86 for the library. The total includes membership renewals, donations, and book sales. Thank you to the Lewisville community and surrounding neighbors for supporting the library. 
 
All funds raised by the Friends support the Lewisville Branch Library in many wonderful ways—providing materials, funding programs, and other much-needed items. 

If you'd like to know more about the Friends of the Lewisville Library or how to become a member, stop by the library to pick up a brochure. All are welcome to join their Facebook group.

Become a Friends
Board Member
The Friends of the Lewisville Library Board is looking for new members. As a board member, you'd take an active role in shaping the future of the organization, allocating funds, fundraising and recruiting new members. If you're looking for a way to volunteer in your community and support the library at the same time, then this is a perfect place to start.
 
The board meets at the Lewisville Branch Library every third Monday at 2 p.m. except in July.
