Panda Express Reading Challenge
Wednesday: Jan. 29 - Friday: Feb. 28
Children's Room
Kids 12 and younger, participate in the Panda Express reading challenge. Pick up a reading log at the Children's Desk, read and log 5 books, and return your log to the Children’s Desk for a free Panda Express cub meal.
 
Kids who cannot yet read can be read to/with. The last day to pick up reading logs is February 28, and the last day to turn in reading logs is March 8. 
 
The library thanks Panda Express for generously sponsoring this program. While supplies last. 
Library Love Letters
Saturday: Feb. 1 - Friday: Feb. 28
Children's Room
February is Library Lovers' Month! Grab a heart in the Children’s Room, and write or draw a picture on it, telling everyone why you love the library.
 
We will post your heart on our Library Lovers’ Wall. Come visit throughout the month to see the Library Lovers' Wall grow with all the reasons we love the library.
 
No pre-registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.  
Drop In Crafternoons:
Valentine Heart Buttons
Monday: Feb. 3 & Thursday: Feb. 13
4:00PM-6:00PM, while supplies last

Kids 12 and younger, stop by the Children’s Room between 4-6 p.m. to make a heart button to give to a loved one... or keep for yourself!

Coloring with a Cop

Meet friendly Buena Park police officers, and enjoy a creative afternoon of fun.
 
Attendees will receive anti-tobacco coloring books and learn from America on Track about living a healthy lifestyle.
 
This program will be held on the first floor in and near the Children’s Room. While supplies last.

Alma Thomas Painting
Monday: February 10, 4:00PM-7:00PM
Children's Room
Celebrate Black History Month by learning about artist Alma Thomas, who was the first African American woman to have a solo exhibition at New York’s Whitney Museum of American Art.
 
Kids ages 4-12, drop in the Children’s Room, see a few of Thomas’ paintings, read about her life, and paint your own magnets with paint markers in Thomas’ colorful, exuberant, abstract style.

Read to a BARK Therapy Dog

Children's Fiction Area
Kids 12 and younger, come read to our dog pals in the Children's Fiction Area. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first-come, first-served basis.

Spanish/English Bilingual Storytime
Thursdays: February 13 & 27

Join us for songs and stories in Spanish and English. Fun for the whole family! 
 
This program will be held in the Children’s Room on February 13 and in the Second-Floor Multipurpose Room on February 27.

Pet Care Presentation

Do you have a pet? Do you love animals? Do you want to learn how to better care for our furry friends?
 
PAWS (Pawsitive Action for Wildlife and Strays) and veterinarian Dr. Sieun Kim will present how we can be animal helpers and answer your questions about pet care.
 
Bring your own sock if you’d like to make a squeaky toy to keep or donate to an animal shelter. Please bring your questions for PAWS and Dr. Kim, but do not bring your pets.
 
Seating is limited. While supplies last.

Pajama-rama Storytime

Valentines day isn't just for the couples anymore. We love our besties, our pets, and most importantly—ourselves!
 
Come celebrate love in all forms at our Teens Valentines party. We will be making last minute cards, and self-love charm sachets with rose, lavender, and other herbs.

Take-Home Craft Kit:
Mini Accordion-Style Album
Beginning Monday: February 10
Reference Desk, while supplies last
Hey adults! Come pick up your craft kit and make your own paper accordion-style album. 
 
Use this album as a scrapbook, photo album, or decorate it and give it away as a valentine!
 
You will need your own glue, photos/mementos, and any other embellishments you'd like to decorate it with. 
 
Pick up from our Reference Desk or via Curbside Service starting Monday, Feb. 10th, while supplies last. 
 
Free for adults ages 16+. One kit per person, please. Colors of supplies provided may vary.

This month, we will discuss Traveler of Heart with author Elle Kish! Ms. Kish will be joining us virtually!
 
Traveler of Heart tells the story of Daphne Silver, a seemingly ordinary woman who, following a tragic accident, finds herself unexpectedly transported into a magical realm filled with faeries and dragons, where she must navigate her newfound abilities, a budding romance with a mysterious stranger named Silas, and the urgency to find a way back to her family in the real world within a limited time frame.
