Draw "A Day at the Library"

First-Floor, all day
Stop by the drawing station next to the Reference Desk to draw what “A Day at the Library” means to you, and we will put your drawing on display.
 
Participants will receive a National Library Week bookmark.
 
While supplies last. For all ages.
 
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
 
Vote for Your Favorite Book Series
Monday: April 7 - Saturday: April 12
Children's Room, all day
Kids 12 and younger, stop by the Children’s Room to vote for your favorite book series. At the end of the week, see which series got the most votes! One vote per child per day please.
 
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. 
 
Baby Band
Monday: April 7, 11:30AM-12:00PM
Second-Floor Multipurpose Room
Calling all babies (ages 0-2)! Kick off National Library Week with a time of music and movement. We will sing songs, move our bodies, and play simple instruments.
 
No registration is required. Caregivers are required to be present and actively participate with their little ones. Seating is limited.
 
Read to a BARK Therapy Dog
Tuesday: April 8, 6:45PM-7:45PM
Children's Room
Kids 12 and younger, come read to a dog. Readers will receive a time slot with a dog on a first-come, first-served basis. 
 
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.  
 
Reading Buddies
Wednesday: April 9 & Thursday: April 10
4:30PM-6:00PM
Children's Room
Children ages 4-12, read with a reading buddy from the Buena Park High School National Honor Society. Your reading buddy will listen to you read aloud and help you along the way.
 
Bring your own book, or choose from the provided selection. Readers will receive a 20 minute slot with a reading buddy on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited.
  
No registration is required. Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger.  
Spanish/English Bilingual Storytime
Thursdays: April 10 & 24

Join us for songs and stories in Spanish and English and enjoy a time of free play. Fun for the whole family! 
 
Special guest Toffee the Bunny will be at the April 10th meeting! We will be dancing, singing, and taking pictures with all the children and their caregivers. We’re excited to share this wonderful experience with everyone! 
 
Please note: Toffee is not a real bunny but a human in a bunny costume.

Anime Your Way

Do you like all things anime? Former Simpsons artist Carlos Nieto III will be here to show you a step-by-step method to creating and drawing anime characters of all kinds. No matter your drawing level, this will be a great experience for art and anime lovers alike. All materials will be provided.
 
Caregivers must accompany children 10 years of age and younger. Seating is limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis. 
 
No registration is required. Ages 9+ 
Pajama-rama Storytime
Thursday: April 17, 6:30PM-7:00PM
Children's Room
Join us in your pajamas for an evening of stories. Stuffed animal friends are more than welcome. Fun for the whole family!
 
We will be joined by Toffee the Bunny at this special bunny themed storytime. Meet Toffee, take a photo with her, and receive a little goodie to take home.

Celebrate National Library Week’s “Drawn to The Library” with some sketching, doodling, painting and more! We will have a shared art challenge, a design of your own bookmark station, and free art to create as much as you’d like. All materials will be provided.

Calling all teens in need of caffeine and a study space!  Bring your friends to the Library and enjoy some cafe style music, a virtual crackling fire, iced and hot tea, and snacks for all your cozy cafe needs.
 
Take study breaks at our de-stressor station equipped with fidgets and other calming activities. Basic study materials and charging outlets will be provided.

This month, we will discuss Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty, a story of a seemingly ordinary domestic flight where a mysterious woman, dubbed the "Death Lady", begins revealing specific predictions about when and how each passenger will die, forcing them to confront their mortality and grapple with the implications of knowing their fate on a plane journey filled with unexpected twists and character interweaving.
