Programs and information for Adults
 
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
We will be hosting the Survivor Art Installation April 12th and 13th.
We have will have a table display upstairs all month with books and additional information.
 

Coloring for Adults
Wednesdays at the Library from 2:00-4:00

We supply coloring pages, pens and pencils, and snacks. You're welcome to bring your own supplies and projects, if you prefer.

For Kids
Story Time
Kids of all ages, join Miss Val for Storytime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.! Come for an hour of stories, coloring, crafts, snacks, and fun! Upcoming themes include Dr. Seuss and spring babies. Suggest favorite things your child is interested in for us to use as future themes here. Story time photos are posted weekly to our Facebook Story Time Album. If you would like to contribute a special prop or supplies to storytime or be a guest speaker, please contact Miss Val.
 
1,000 Books Before Kindergarten
Join our free early literacy program and steer your baby to kindergarten-age 
child toward academic success! Studies show that children who are read to from an early age develop better vocabulary, make more connections in their brains, and form the needed skills to read by themselves much quicker than their average peers who are not read to. Sign up by stopping in at the library for your first reading log, welcome letter, and other paperwork. Take a look at our awesome readers here.
 
           
 
For Teens
Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
Every Wednesday 4:15 - 5 p.m.
 
Teens love TAG! Come see why! We meet weekly with activities normally in the following order: Week 1: Community Service Project; Week 2: Arts & Crafts; Week 3: Games & Snacks Night (4-6 p.m.); Week 4: American Idiots Book Club. If you would like to donate treats for the teens, please contact Miss Val at vcyouthlib@gmail.com.
 
Community Service
Middle and high school students met on April 3, 4:15 - 5 p.m., to clean up the library grounds and write poetry & artwork on the sidewalk in honor of National Poetry Month. Miss Val is happy to provide recommendation letters which include statements of service work done upon request - perfect for accompanying résumés and college applications!
Arts & Crafts
Note: The next arts and crafts night will be in May, due to Miss Val's upcoming vacation & training. 
Games & Snacks Night
Come play board and card games while snacking on delicious goodies, along with soda and bottled water, on April 10, 4 - 6 p.m. Bring your own board and card games to play if you want, provided they are suitable for a general audience. Tabletop role-playing games are welcome too!
 
The American Idiots Teen Book Club will meet to discuss our current and recent reads at The Keyhole on April 24, 4:15 - 5 p.m., and enjoy free treats courtesy of FSMS VIPs group. 
 
For Families
Marvelous Mondays
 
On April 22, from 2 - 3 p.m., join fellow homeschoolers in our community and any other kids & families who want to participate in our next Marvelous Monday! We have decided as a group to begin meeting every other month. We are still seeking a special guest speaker and deciding on our theme. Please contact Miss Val at vcyouthlib@gmail.com if you or someone you know would like to speak! 
 
Maker Mondays 
Make slime with Miss Val on April 8, 4 - 5 p.m. at this program designed primarily for elementary school and middle school kids. Create spring-inspired slime in many colors and textures. Add stickers to our mosaic to discover the image. Enjoy a snack and water as you unwind from a school day! You may bring your own snack and drink as well, if you want. Be sure to share this event and invite your friends! This program is designed primarily for school-aged children, but all ages are welcome. Children 2nd grade and below must have an adult with them at all times. Let's make slime together!
