Spend Spring Break at the Library

Beaverton City Library Main and Murray Scholls have programming for youth of all ages during Spring Break, Saturday, March 21 through Saturday, March 28! Kids can play Bluey Bingo, make paper airplanes, craft and play with things that go, and participate in science experiments with OMSI staff at Main, and enjoy Family Yoga Storytime at Murray Scholls. Teens can make mini masterpieces (registration required) and beeswax candles (registration required) or play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the main library. For all ages, learn more about our plant swaps at Main and Murray Scholls below. You can also visit the Bookmobile on its regular route, Wednesday through Saturday, or make something in DAM during Open Lab - hours extended for Spring Break! Learn more.

Participate in a Swap Event

Community swap events are great opportunities to declutter, share locally, and support sustainability. At our Community Clothing Swap at the main library on Sunday, March 15, refresh your wardrobe with free items! Everyone is welcome to take home items for themselves and their families; no donation is required to participate. Donate clean, gently used clothing through Saturday, March 14, during open hours; there are donation barrels near the interior book drop at the main library. On Sunday, March 22, join us for Spring Plant Swap & Kids Plant a Seed at the main library. Have extra plants, bulbs, or seeds? Bring a plant and get a plant! Kids can also plant a seed to take home and grow. Murray Scholls is also hosting a Plant Swap on Saturday, March 28. Swap out a plant you own for something new! Learn more.

Spend Time in Community at Your Library

Do you know about third places? When you're not at home or at work, third places offer a space to gather regularly and experience community, inclusivity, and social bonding. The library is an ideal third place, where you can visit without an invitation or appointment, come and go as you please, and feel that you belong. In addition to comfy seating in our beautiful library locations, at the main library you can use our Study Cubes, Meeting Rooms, and Auditorium (reservations required) to gather with your people. Never explored the main library? Come visit and try spending time in our second-floor Reading Room, Mountain View Room, or Teen Room just for teens!
