Northwest Reno Library Closing for Renovation

The Northwest Reno Library will be closed for heating and cooling system replacement and roof retrofit starting Wednesday, May 6, with an anticipated reopening planned for late summer, 2026.


During the closure: 

  • You can return items to book drops at any other Washoe County Library locations.  

  • Hold pickup will be available at other Washoe County Library locations.

The Dapper Tappers: Rockin' Rhythm

South Valleys Library

Sunday, April 26, 11 am

The Dapper Tappers present "Rockin’ Rhythms,” a high-energy interactive revue bringing tap dance choreography together with classic rock songs from the '70s and '80s. Dancers will perform a variety of tap numbers on specially created portable tap boards.


The Dapper Tappers is presented by Pioneer Center Golden Encore and Washoe County Library System.

Musical Stories with the Reno Chamber Orchestra

North Valleys Library

Thursday, April 30, 10:30 am

A musical storytelling adventure for kids, featuring the Hans Christian Andersen story "The Nightingale," adapted by Kevin Lau, presented by the musicians of the Reno Chamber Orchestra, featuring pianist Kelly Kuo, violinist Ruth Lenz, clarinetist Karl Busch, and narrator Amy Heald.

Library Board of Trustees Vacancies

The Board of Washoe County Commissioners is accepting applications for two vacancies on the Washoe County Library Board of Trustees. The application and a description of responsibilities are available on the Washoe County Board & Commission Openings page.


Deadline for application is Friday, May 1, 5 pm.

Due to construction at the Reno Town Mall, book donations cannot currently be delivered to the Friends at their usual location. Please bring your donations to the Sierra View Library instead.
