Welcome to February @ MLPL
Winter may still have a grip on The Township, but February is packed with ways to stay connected, creative, and cozy at MLPL.
From Love Your Library Month celebrations and family-friendly programs, to creative workshops in our Makerspace, Olympic watch parties, and community gatherings, there’s lots happening in both Port Carling and Bala this month!
And don’t forget about everything your library card unlocks beyond programs, books and DVDs!
Our Home Delivery Service is here if getting out is tricky, our Library of Things includes items like daylight lamps to help beat the winter doldrums, and you can borrow provincial parks passes for your next outdoor adventure.
Plus… snowshoes are coming later this month to the Library of Things lineup — stay tuned!
Whether you’re popping in for a quick visit or settling in for an afternoon, February is a great time to rediscover all the reasons you love your library. |

Each month we will include a title or two that a staff member has recently read. Yes, we could call it Staff Picks, but where's the alliterative fun in that?
So, without further ado, please enjoy Rachel's Reading Room! |

by Tanya Tagaq(Adult fiction book)
Based in part on the author's personal journals, Split Tooth tells the story of a young girl growing up in Nunavut in the 1970s. Tagaq explores the transition from childhood to motherhood in a way that is equal parts raw and beautiful. The writing style is a unique blend of poetry and fiction, which quickly drew me in. Audiobook listeners will enjoy the author’s traditional Inuk throat singing. |
