Hello and Happy August!
The days are still warm and the lake is still calling, but somehow it's August already — which means it's shaping up to be one of our busiest and most exciting months yet! Here's (a glimpse of) what's on our radar:
- We're closed Monday, August 3rd for the Civic Holiday — enjoy the long weekend, and we'll see you back in both Bala and Port Carling on Tuesday!
- The Friends of the MLPL Silent Auction closes Thursday, August 6th at 5:00 PM — browse a wonderful collection of items donated by local businesses and community members, with all proceeds supporting the library. Bid before time runs out at 32auctions.com/mlplfriends15!
- Celebration Week is here! This August marks 25 years since the Norma and Miller Alloway Muskoka Lakes Library first opened its doors in our beautiful Port Carling building — and 139 years of library service to our community overall! We're kicking things off with a special reading and conversation with author Kerry Clare on Monday, August 17th (5–7 PM). The celebration continues with Family Trivia Night, Make Your Own Merch, a full-day workshop with chef and author Christine Flynn, Recipes Are Memories
, on Thursday, August 20th, and wraps up with Family Fun Day on Saturday, August 22nd (10 AM–3 PM) in Port Carling — a great way for the whole family to join the celebration! Check the calendar below for the full lineup.
