Happy October! As we head into the season of gratitude, we have plenty to be thankful for at MLPL, and lots happening this month.

Please note that both branches will be closed on Monday, October 12 for Thanksgiving. We wish you and yours a warm and happy holiday.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Service and Space Review survey! More than 300 of you shared your thoughts on MLPL, and we can't wait to share the results with you in the near future.

This is also your last call for some of our local passes. Thank you to our community partners for helping make this pilot season such a success. Stay tuned for next summer!

It's swap season! Costume Swap drop-offs begin October 1 at either branch, so now's the time to clear out those gently used costumes. And starting October 13, you can drop off plants anytime at our Port Carling branch for the Plant Swap.

Finally, we've added some great new items to our Library of Things. Radon test kits are now available to borrow, along with sewing machines, just in time for costume season.

Thursday October 1st at our Port Carling branch:

Electrifying your home
Let's Go LEGO

Electrifying Your Home is from 5:45-6:45. Spaces are limited. Register by email (info@mlpl.ca) or phone (705-765-5650) to reserve your spot.

As the evenings become cooler, you might be thinking about turning the heat on to take away the chill. Do you have questions about heat pumps, and whether or not they're worth it? Are you interested in knowing how you can switch out your fossil fuel-based appliances and heating sources for electric versions? Join the District of Muskoka and Climate Action Muskoka's Lauren Saville, for an engaging talk. She will be highlighting real examples of home upgrades, such as heat pumps, solar and battery setups, electric home maintenance tools, and EV charging, and how they can benefit you.

Let's Go LEGO runs from 5:30-6:45, no registration required.

MLPL is hosting Let's Go LEGO on the same evening, a structured LEGO program for participants aged 4+. Let's Go LEGO will have a theme, and participants will be able to present their creations to the group. No registration required. Children aged 9 and under must have a parent or guardian (this can be an older sibling) remain in the library for the duration of the program. Guardians can be participating in a separate program within the library.
