Happy July!

Summer has officially arrived and our branches are buzzing with activity. Whether you're joining us for a program, browsing the shelves, taking part in our Summer Reading Challenges, or simply stopping in to cool off for a while, we hope you'll find plenty of reasons to visit MLPL this month and throughout the summer!

Just a reminder that both library branches will be closed on Wednesday, July 1st for Canada Day. Regular hours will resume on Thursday. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable holiday celebrating with family and friends!

Aside from all the amazing upcoming programming we have on offer (which you can read about below), we wanted to draw your attention to our Service & Space Review Survey which is currently underway.

We're taking a close look at how our system can best serve Muskoka Lakes today and into the future, and we'd truly appreciate you taking a few minutes to share your thoughts. Whether you're a regular visitor, an occasional user, a seasonal resident, or even someone who hasn't been to the library in a while (hey, thanks for reading the Newsletter!), your feedback will help shape our next chapter. Better yet, you'll be entered for a chance to win an Apple iPad if you so choose.  You can click on the image below, or click here to be taken to the survey.

As always, thank you for your continued support of Muskoka Lakes Public Library. We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Book sale

June 26th - July 4th

Our annual Summer Book Sale is back for its third year at our Port Carling branch.  The sale will be on during regular business hours from June 26th - July 4th. The sale will be set up in the lower level of the branch.  Bring your own bag and fill it with books for just $5!

Beading for Reading is back for its third year at MLPL!  Come to either branch to pick up a reading log, geared to your level of reading.  Every time you visit the library, bring your reading log with you.  Every read will earn you a bead, and every tenth entry will earn you a brag tag. How long will your necklace be by the end of the summer? We can't wait to find out!

Beading for Reading begins on Friday June 26th, and ends on Saturday September 5th.

This Summer there's a challenge to motivate our adults to get reading! Come to either branch to pick up a reading log. Each time you visit the library, bring your reading log with you because every book you read earns you one entry into a draw to win one of our MLPL canvas tote bags!

Our Adult Summer Reading Challenge begins on Friday June 26th, and ends on Saturday September 5th.

Beginning on June 29th you'll be able to enjoy a rotating collection of stories while you visit three of the Township of Muskoka Lakes' parks.  Muskoka Lakes Public Library installs a Story Trail at Jaspen Park in Bala,  as well as Hanna Park  and James Bartleman Island Park in Port Carling.

The Art on A Shelf Exhibit returns this summer, inviting both adults and youth in grades 9 and up, to display artwork among the book shelves at our Port Carling branch. In addition, there will be a second exhibit – the Mini Masters Kids Art Show exhibits the mini creations from children in grades 1 through 8. This is your chance to show off your creativity – use any medium to create any image.

Want to be a participating artist? You can pick up your free canvas board, at both Bala and Port Carling branches, as of Friday, June 26th with a deadline to return the finished masterpiece by Tuesday, July 14th.

Get your bidding fingers ready! The Friends of the MLPL Silent Auction launches on July 9th and runs until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday August 6th. Browse a growing collection of items (with more being added weekly), generously donated by local businesses and community members — all in support of the library!
