(DVD)
From DreamWorks Animation comes an adaptation of Peter Brown's award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot. The epic adventure stars Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong'o (Us, the Black Panther franchise) as Roz, a robot that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must adapt to the harsh surroundings. Gradually Roz starts building relationships with the animals on the island, including a clever fox voiced by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian), and becomes the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling named Brightbill. The Wild Robot is a powerful story about self-discovery, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature, and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things.

Some of Earth's strangest -- and creepiest -- wonders lie deep below the surface. There's Lake Natron, a Tanzanian lake so briny that its waters can mummify any creature that touches its surface; Lake Maracaibo, a Venezuelan tidal bay where a constantly brewing storm sends an average of 28 lightning bolts per second into the water; and at the bottom of Lake Superior, the crew of the USS Kamloops -- which mysteriously disappeared in 1921 -- remains somehow almost perfectly preserved to this day. From TikTok sensation and educator Geo Rutherford -- the creator of the hit series "Spooky Lake Month" -- comes a thrilling nonfiction book that plumbs the depths of unusual lakes around the world. Readers will learn not only about the science of hydrology, but why understanding the natural world is crucial to protecting it from pollution and climate change. Backed by extensive research and packed with all-new content -- including eerie and eye-popping watercolor illustrations in full color -- Spooky Lakes takes readers on an adventure through weird and wild waters

Alison has never been a fan of Christmas. But with it right around the corner and her husband busily decorating their cozy Vermont home, she has no choice but to face it. Then she gets the call. Mavis, Alison's estranged mother, has been diagnosed with cancer and has only weeks to live. She wants to spend her remaining days with her daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. But Alison grew up with her mother's alcoholism and violent abuse and is reluctant to unearth these traumatic memories. Still, she eventually agrees to take in Mavis, hoping that she and her mother could finally heal and have the relationship she's always dreamed of. But when mysterious and otherworldly things start happening upon Mavis's arrival, Alison begins to suspect her mother is not quite who she seems. And as the holiday festivities turn into a nightmare, she must confront just how far she is willing to go to protect her family

This is a very timely book, following a young couple who buy a house in the country to escape the close quarters and violence of the city, only to discover the home they have bought and the small town they've moved to have their own disturbing secrets. It starts with a disappearing body, spotted on a satellite image of the property before they move there; continues through a window that opens seemingly at will, and at all hours; another body on the front lawn and a growing sense that they are not alone in the house. Michelle is the master of page-turners with unexpected endings and this book is sure to delight her fans.

This book is a great read for anyone who wants to understand the root of most health issues and explore some of the downfalls of modern health care, and the conflict of big pharma and big food. I'll leave it at that as I'm not quite finished reading it yet either, but it is packed with facts and simple, accessible solutions for improving metabolic health. Breaking symptoms down into 'good' and 'bad' energy to be listened to as warning signs before disease sets in and exploring the root cause of many modern health problems from depression, anxiety, infertility, insomnia, heart disease, erectile dysfunction, type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, dementia and cancer. Okay, maybe I didn't just leave it at that, but I am hooked, and inspired to make better choices.
