Well, hello there! What a summer it's been. As the nights start to get cooler and we ease into fall, we want to say thank you — to everyone who visited, borrowed, and took part in all that the Muskoka Lakes Public Library had to offer this summer.
A special thank you goes out to everyone who supported our 15th annual Friends of the Library Silent Auction. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and residents, the Friends of MLPL raised over $10,000 for the library this year! This support allows us to provide additional programming, helps facilitate branch improvements, and helps keep so many of our programs free and accessible to the community.
Our 25th Anniversary Celebration Week events wouldn't have been possible without that Friends support, and what a week it was! Monday brought a wonderful author talk with Kerry Clare in conversation with Cindy Watson, Tuesday saw a full house for Family Trivia Night, and Wednesday had a ton of eager participants designing their own library merch. Chef Christine Flynn led a fantastic cookbook-as-memoir writing workshop Thursday, and we capped it all off Saturday with Family Fun Day — race cars, fire department hoses, exotic animals, face painting, popcorn, and button making kept families smiling all day long.
There's plenty more on the horizon this fall — keep reading for a new Teen Advisory Group callout, and yes, we know it's early, but we've included a few of our October special events along with our Costume and Plant Swaps so you can start saving the date!
Also please note MLPL will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labour Day.
Last call! You have one week left to fill out our Service and Space Review Survey for a chance to win an Apple iPad. Complete it by Monday, September 7th! |

Come to the Port Carling branch on Thursday October 1st from 5:45 - 6:45 PM for an engaging discussion about the impacts of electrifying your home. Geared towards homeowners, this discussion will help you better understand why the installation of heat pumps can lower energy bills, increase health and be good for the climate too! There will be time for questions after the conclusion of the presentation.
Facilitated by the District of Muskoka's Community Climate Initiatives Coordinator, Lauren Saville.
Please register for this event by calling 705-765-5650 or emailing info@mlpl.ca. |

Thank you again so much to everyone who submitted a work, to all those who took the time to vote, and to those who purchased a piece to take home, in support of the library. If you have purchased a piece, or if you had a piece in the show, you can now come in to pick them up and take them home.
