A Journey Through ASL and Deaf Education

Thursday, April 10 at 6 p.m.

Join us for an enlightening evening with Tom L. Thompson as he takes us on a journey through the history of American Sign Language (ASL) and Deaf Education. With decades of experience in disability services and higher education, Thompson brings a wealth of knowledge and insight into accessibility, advocacy, and the evolution of ASL in academic and social settings.


This program will include ASL Interpreters.

Wednesday, April 16 at 6 p.m.

Let’s huddle up at our Wednesday Night Book Group to discuss our Whittier Reads selection, The Boys of Riverside: A Deaf Football Team and a Quest for Glory. Named the #1 book of 2024 by Amazon Editors, readers will surely be riveted with the retelling of the historic 2021 and 2022 seasons in which the California School for the Deaf chased history.

Join us for an eye-opening documentary that follows three predominantly deaf families navigating life in a hearing world. Executive produced by Academy Award®-winner Marlee Matlin, Deaf Out Loud sheds light on the challenges, choices, and triumphs of raising deaf children while confronting social stigmas.
