Dr. Seuss and Springfield
 Seuss and Springfield!
Theodor Seuss "Ted" Geisel was an American children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, and filmmaker - and he was born and raised right here in Springfield! He is known for his work writing and illustrating more than 60 books under the pen name Dr. Seuss.
On March 2, Read Across America Day, we celebrate his birthday. Check out the Family Activities we have this month to celebrate Dr. Seuss!
Connecting With Our Community
A 97-year-old patron called us to set up a vaccine appointment. Not only did she get her appointment all squared away with a librarian, but she able to talk about many amazing events and times she had lived through including the stock market crash of 1929, the Great Depression, and her lovely marriage to man who not only gave her presents for Valentine's Day, but also for every day of Valentine's Day Week! (This is our cue to all be jealous!)
Book Lists and Recommendations
Every month in the newsletter, we'll include some book lists that you can click through to place a hold directly in the catalog! If you have suggestions for a list, please let us know at our Ask A Librarian page or just reply to this newsletter! You can also get personalized suggestions from our Your Next Great Story service.

Women Becoming Visible - When a group of people has been made invisible, their achievements, dreams, and needs tend to be undervalued or ignored. Since the dawn of time, women--especially women of color, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women, and women who are old, disabled, or poor--have frequently been rendered invisible and have been denied equal access to financial, political, and social power. Now women are breaking through these barriers to be seen, heard, and accorded respect. Learn more about women becoming fully visible by reading these books.
