Summer Reading is For Everyone!
Read for 20 minutes a day and earn a free book of your choice after just 30 days of reading. Discover free take-and-make activities for all ages, outdoor programs, and more! Write book reviews and get a chance to win prizes. The club is for all ages!

Seed Library at Mason Square Branch
The Mason Square Branch Seed Library features a variety of FREE 100% organic, non-GMO seeds for vegetables, greens, herbs, and flowers, made possible through a grant from Vermont-based seed company, High Mowing Organic Seeds. With multiple varieties, there’s something for everyone! Please call the Mason Square Branch Library to reserve your FREE seeds for pickup, and grab some gardening books too!
Hotspots - Internet For Your Home
The Springfield City Library is circulating portable internet hotspots, effective immediately, for those in the community that don't have internet access at home. The borrowing program is beginning slowly, with a few hotspots available at the Central Library, Mason Square Branch and Forest Park Branch locations, available to Springfield library cardholders only. Octavia Butler and her Successors - Octavia Butler (1947-2006) was a visionary speculative fiction author whose work is still relevant today. A multiple recipient of both the Hugo and Nebula awards, she has influenced many current authors. Last updated May 2021.
 
PTSD Awareness - June is PTSD Awareness month. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (a related disorder) affect millions of people. Here are some resources to learn about this disorder, read stories from those who have lived with it, and how to seek help for yourself or a loved one.

You Rock - Rock Art
June 1-12
Paint a rock! Use supplies provided to make a cute polka-dotted ladybug, or a design of your choice. We supply paints, rocks and ideas- you supply the fun! Suitable for all ages. One bag has enough supplies for 1-2 people. Curbside, while supplies last. See website for details!
Sunshine Storytimes
June 18, 25; July 2, 9, 16, 23 - 10:00 am
Soak up some sun, get your dancing shoes on, and listen to all sorts of amazing stories on the museum quadrangle behind the Central Library.
Sunshine Storytimes are structured for children 3-5 years old, but all ages are welcome! We will have water bottles and juice boxes available to keep everyone hydrated. Don’t forget to apply sunscreen!

Teen Pop Music Trivia on Zoom
Monday, June 21, 4-5 pm
Teens grades 6-12, test your knowledge on 2010s through to today's pop music. Join the Zoom and play individually on Kahoot! against other teens in the community! 1st Place Winner gets a $15 gift card, 2nd Place wins a $10 gift card. More info on our website!
NEW - Springfield Queer+ Teen Space
Saturday, June 26, 1-2 pm
Meet other LGBTQIA+ or allied teens from Springfield on Zoom for a Saturday afternoon of anything from astrology readings to zine making! We'll be meeting to build a safe space to hang out and taking your ideas for games, activities, your favorite books or shows to talk about, or just conversation topics you love! We'll also have monthly care packages to pick up. For teens 13-18. See more on our website!

Local Resources for Small Business Owners
June 9 - 5:00-6:30 pm on Zoom
There are several organizations in Western Mass that provide free guidance to people who want to start or grow a small business - Join us for this panel presentation with six local groups that specialize in assisting current and future small business owners. A detailed resource guide will be shared with everyone who attends. For Adults 18+.
Virtual Gardening Workshops
Join Anna Muhammad of the Northeast Organic Farmers Association for a series of informative gardening workshops.

Basic Gardening Techniques, and Introduction to Integrated Pest Management - This review of standard gardening techniques including weeding without harming the soil; vegetable pruning; companion planting techniques, and planting to deter pests helps gardeners get started with the basics.
