The Library Foundation is Beautifying our Branches!
The Springfield Library Foundation has provided the City Library with more than $6 million in total support since its inception in 2005. For most of this time, the Foundation has done its work quietly behind the scenes, but the Promise Realized Campaign for the new East Forest Park Branch Library has raised the Foundation’s profile in the community. This year, the Foundation is contributing over $145,000 toward operations and an additional $180,000 to the City Library's books and materials budget.
A special project for the Foundation this year is to provide $16,500 for Branch landscaping and beautification. A local landscaper will replace, prune and upgrade shrubs and other plantings at several library locations. "We actually have a special fund within the Foundation that is dedicated to grounds beautification," said Foundation Executive Director, Matt Blumenfeld, "and as the library system reopens to the public, our Board of Directors felt that it would be important to do all we can to make patrons feel welcome as they return to our Branches."
Stay tuned to our newsletter for more on the Springfield Library Foundation and how it continues to support our City Library. To learn more, please visit the Library Foundation homepage or contact Matt Blumenfeld at (413) 263-6828 ext. 251 or MBlumenfeld@springfieldlibrary.org.
