The title's variant spelling is a clear giveaway that Heaser is British, an artist who has been shaping polymer clay for more than a decade and now reveals her secrets. Compared with the recent flood of books on the subject (Leslie Dierks has penned two for Lark Books), this is more deliberate, more precise in its instructions for more than 50 jewelry projects. For instance, Heaser explains in words and pictures exactly how to roll and shape beads--round, disk, tube, fluted, pebble, and millefiori--so there is no space for errors. In addition, every detail conceivable is included in the beginning chapter: assembling jewelry, using metallic clay, and taking safety precautions (i.e., ventilate quickly if the clay burns). Color photographs are clear, and designs are appealing enough to entice fingers of any age to knead and mold, shape and bake. --Barbara Jacobs
