Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

From the creators of the New York Times bestselling series Clementine comes another chapter book collection that will keep readers engaged and laughing until the very last page.

Waylon has lots of ideas for making life more awesome through science, like teleportation, human gills, and attracting cupcakes by controlling gravity. But it's impossible for him to concentrate on his inventions when he's experiencing his own personal Big Bang.

Arlo Brody is dividing the fourth grade boys into two groups. Waylon would rather be friends with everyone. Well, everyone except the scary new kid, Baxter Boylen.

Waylon's older sister, Neon, is shooting away from the family. He wishes everything would go back to the way it was before she started wearing all black and saying "What's the point?" all the time.

Just when it looks as though Waylon's universe is exploding, something happens to bring it all together again, and it is, without a doubt, One Awesome Thing.

School Library Journal Review

Gr 2-5-Fourth grade is turning out to be harder than Waylon expected. All he wants to do is come up with awesome science experiments and write about them in his new journal. Instead, he's fretting about the teams that his classmate Arlo is dividing all the boys into. He's also anxious about scary Baxter Bolen, who just moved back to town. Then there's Waylon's sister. She changed her name and now wears only black. Readers of the author's "Clementine" series will recognize Waylon as one of Clementine's classmates and will enjoy her cameo appearance in this title. Pennypacker does a nice job of capturing the worry and fun that come with being a fourth grader. Christopher Gebauer narrates nicely, though his voice could use more differentiation among characters. Listeners may want a copy of the book as well so they can enjoy Marla Frazee's illustrations. VERDICT A must-listen for those missing Clementine.
