Signing In

How to Access Outside the Library

PressReader is always free to use on a Library computer or your own device using the Library's Wi-Fi network. Outside of the Library, you must sign in with your Library account information.

  1. Tap/click Sign In.

  2. Tap/click Libraries & Groups (Library or Group in web browser).

  3. Tap/click Select Library or Group (step not seen in web browser).

  4. You may see a request to allow PressReader to use your location. This is optional and will not affect your access.
  5. Start typing Carrollton into the search box then tap/click Carrollton Public Library when it appears.

  6. Tap/click Sign In button.

  7. Enter your Library card number OR user name AND your Pin/Password in the verification form and submit.

  8. You will see this pop-up indicating you have 29 days 23 hours of access left if there were no problems with your Library account.

  9. The cup icon on screen indicates that you are currently authenticated for access to magazines and newspapers.

  10. Tap/click the cup to see how many days are remaining before you must sign in again with your Library account information.

Signing in with your Library account information lets you:

A PressReader account is required to share, bookmark, get notifications, and customize.

PressReader Account

To create your PressReader account you must be signed in already with your Library card or using PressReader at the Library.

  1. Tap/click Sign In.

  4. Complete the Sign up form and then tap/click Sign up button.

  5. You may see a form asking if you want to receive email updates which is optional.

Browsing, Searching, & For You

PressReader is an international company so there are often multiple versions of a publication displaying in browse or search results. Be sure to limit to United States if you want the American versions of magazines.

Tip: You can "Follow" a favorite publication so the latest issue will display on the "Browse" and "For You" screens.

The Browse section iprovides categories that may be of interest to you. Browse is called Catalog on the PressReader website.

In the app, find the Search box at the top of the Browse screen or the For You section,

The For You section is an article feed with the following sections:

In the app, any publications you follow will appear at the top in a section called Your Latest Issues.

Languages

Browse and Search Language Limits

Use the Languages limit when browsing or searching to find magazines in over 60 different languages.

Tip: Since publications in a language may come from many different countries, use the Countries limit FIRST, then apply the Languages limit, especially if the country where the magazine is published is important to you.

Article Translation Languages

Articles can be translated into more than 20 languages.

  1. Press and hold (long press) the title of an article in a downloaded publication to being up the Article Options menu and tap Translate,

    or tap the ellipsis icon (...) in the menu while viewing an article from Search results or the For You section, then tap Translate.

  2. Select a language.

Interface Language

The PressReader app available in the United States only offers an interface in English.

The PressReader website does offer the option to change the Interface Language.

  1. Tap the vertical three dots in the upper right corner to open the menu, then tap Interface Language.

  3. If you accept the Preferences cookie or all cookies when using the PressReader website, then the site will remember your interface language preference on future visits.

Text View on Mobile

Read newspapers and magazines easily on your phones and tablets with Text View – including images!

  1. Just tap the title of an article (highlighted in green).
  2. Scroll down to read the article just like a website.
  3. Swipe left to move to the next article or right to go to the previous article.

Following Publications & Deleting Downloads

Following Publications

You can follow a publication that you frequently read. Followed publications display in the:

To follow a publication:

  1. Find the publication by searching or browsing.
  2. In the app, tap Follow on the publication screen.

Note: In the app, you can toggle a switch to Auto-download new issues of a publication.

Remember: Downloaded issues remain on your device taking up space until you delete them.

Deleting Downloaded Publications

  1. Tap Downloaded in the menu.
  2. Tap and hold (long press) on the cover of the issue you want to delete until it is highlighted in grey.

  3. Tap another issue to add it to the selection for deletion.

  4. To remove an issue from the selection, tap the cover again to deselect it.
  5. Tap the red trash can to delete all selected issues of publications.

  6. If you change your mind about deleting, tap Done to remove any selections.

Note: If you want to PROTECT a particular downloaded issue from being accidently deleted, tap the lock icon when the issue is selected.
