Summary: Following a painful betrayal, Maddy Monroe's love life is a wreck, and her restaurant career is in shambles. When her grandmother goes missing, she and her estranged sisters converge at the family beach house in Sea Haven, North Carolina. Being with uptight Nora and free-spirited Emma at the place where their family broke apart is a struggle, and undercurrents of jealousy and resentment threaten to pull the sisters under. In the midst of the storm, sparks begin to fly between Maddy and Gram's maddening neighbor, Connor Murphy. As the sisters pack up the family belongings, memories of idyllic, slow-paced summers are resurrected. But long-buried secrets also come to light as Maddy discovers that all was not as it appeared that last summer in Sea Haven--nor today in the seemingly perfect lives of her sisters. As family tensions rise and Connor causes tumult in Maddy's heart, the sisters must find a way to accept each other for the women they've become before the bitterness of the past destroys their hope for a future.

Enhanced descriptions from Syndetics:

From the bestselling author of The Convenient Groom (now a beloved Hallmark Original movie) comes a heartfelt story of family secrets, forgiveness, and unexpected romance. A summer of low tides could expose years of family secrets. . .

One of Southern Living's "25 Beach Reads Perfect for Summer" and Woman's World's "Best New Books"

When her grandmother goes missing from the family beach house, Maddy and her estranged sisters converge in Sea Haven, North Carolina. Being with uptight Nora and free-spirited Emma in the home where their family broke apart is a struggle Maddy is not in the mood to face, especially since she's recovering from her ex-boyfriend's recent betrayal.

As the sisters wait for word of their grandmother, they begin to pack up the family belongings--and unpack memories of the idyllic summers of their childhood. But with those memories come long-buried secrets, and Maddy discovers that all was not as it appeared that last summer in Sea Haven. Meanwhile, Gram's neighbor, Connor Sullivan, seems overly interested in Gram's whereabouts. Maddy is drawn in by his quick smile and steady gaze in spite of herself.

Undercurrents of jealousy and resentment threaten to pull the family under again, maybe for good this time. As tensions rise, the sisters must find a way to accept each other for the women they've become--and Maddy must decide if falling in love again is worth the potential heartbreak.

Publishers Weekly Review

Secrets, forgiveness, and love await three estranged sisters who come together to rescue their grandmother in this pleasant, inspirational tale from Hunter (The Convenient Groom). After Maddy Monroe receives an alarming phone call from her grandmother's neighbor, she gladly leaves behind her floundering restaurant career and cheating boyfriend for Seahaven, N.C., to figure out why Gram vanished. She is surprised when her sisters arrive shortly thereafter, all of whom had been called by the worried neighbor, handsome dock and restaurant owner Connor Sullivan. Competitive tension between sisters Nora and Emma goes back 20 years, so Maddy leaves them alone and takes on a temporary job helping Connor with his restaurant. Sparks soon fly between the two of them, but Maddy's recent romantic woes make her gun shy, while Connor is conflicted about dating again after the death of his wife a few years prior. Sorting through and cleaning up the cottage brings back long-buried memories, and the sisters discover that the past isn't exactly as they remember it. Hunter does an excellent job of using the sisters' situations to probe the dynamics of family dysfunction and the long-term effects of childhood trauma. While faith elements are subtle, the believable heartaches of Hunter's characters and the organic plot will please her many fans and win her new ones. (May) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
