Sosa's fluffy second Love on Cue contemporary (after Acting on Impulse) sets up a complicated relationship between flight attendant Ashley Williamson and film agent Julian Hart, who represents Ashley's movie star brother, Carter. Ashley initially claims she just needs a place to stay between flights, but from the moment Julian gives her his spare room, she does her best to seduce him. He's hardly immune to her charms, but Julian's used to thinking of her as his best friend's kid sister-in other words, off limits. Sosa tries to raise the tension by alternating Ashley and Julian's narrations to show their inner concerns and hesitations, but the only real questions are where and when the pair will get together, and those are readily answered when they head to the East Coast for Carter's low-key wedding and have to sleep in the same bed. Ashley's white and Julian's black, but the Williamsons look upon Julian as a member of the family, and no issues of cultural compatibility ever come up, which may strike readers as improbable. The second installment in the Love on Cue series puts a refreshingly modern and funny spin on the traditional idea that opposites attract. Ashley and Julian are opposites in almost every way: He is deeply committed to his career, while flight attendant Ashley has a gift for music that she's too afraid to pursue. Her sparkling energy electrifies Julian into acknowledging his internal conflicts while Julian's steadfastness inspires Ashley to take herself more seriously. The journey of the characters seems more real because Sosa deftly weaves several socially relevant threads, like whitewashing in the entertainment industry, into the fabric of her story.Witty banter and sexual chemistry blend together to concoct a compelling romance story. Ashley Williamson needs to know once and for all if Julian Hart is interested in her or not. So far, all she's been receiving are mixed signals. Which is why Ashley plans to up her romantic game by accepting Julian's offer to stay with him while she is apartment hunting. Although Julian is more than willing to let Ashley crash with him, there is no way in the world he would ever put the moves on the younger sister of his best friend, Carter, who is also his biggest client. Of course, this was before Ashley unexpectedly asks Julian to pretend to be her boyfriend while they are attending Carter's East Coast wedding. With the second in her Love on Cue series, Sosa (Acting on Impulse, 2017) deftly combines her flair for nuanced characterization with snappy writing imbued with a deliciously acerbic sense of humor, thus making her the new go-to author for fans of sassy and sexy contemporary romances.--Charles, John Copyright 2018 Booklist

Sosa second book in her "Love on Cue" series (after Acting on Impulse) unfolds with alternating viewpoints from the heroine and hero (introduced in the previous title), allowing the reader a unique perspective. Ashley Williamson, the perceived flighty younger sister of film star Carter Williamson, needs a place to stay after an unfortunate roommate incident, and reliable good friend and Carter's agent Julian Hart opens his spare room to her. Both Ashley and Julian are complex individuals, with interesting backstories, but the will they/won't they begin a relationship takes up a good amount of the story. Along with forced proximity, a fake engagement and some serious family expectations for the way both Ashley and Julian should be living their lives lead to a satisfying ending for both characters outside of the inevitable romance.
