Effie Lee Morris Lecture with Shane Evans The Main Children's Center welcomes author and illustrator Shane Evans as he delivers the 22nd annual Effie Lee Morris Lecture. Evans is the author and illustrator of the Coretta Scott King Award-winning picture book Underground, a sensory rich evocation of how it feels to be a slave on the way to freedom. He has also collaborated with his lifelong friend, actor and singer Taye Diggs on Chocolate Me!, Mixed Me! and other warmhearted picture stories.Hear Shane Evans speak about his work at the Library on Sept. 6, followed by a book signing.
