Cora J. Belden Library
Dear Rocky Hill Library User:

A few years ago, the library introduced a service called "Hoopla" which gave readers access to thousands of ebooks, music and videos. Hoopla's pricing model is a pay per circ model. That means that the library pays a fee for every item checked out. It was affordable when a few people found items they liked and checked out. Unfortunately, it has become a victim of its own success and hundreds of people are finding items. If we kept the service as is, it could quickly use up the entire book budget (print, audio, etc) for the year. We reluctantly find ourselves having to cut back on the service as of October 1. In its place, we invite you to try out eaudiobooks and ebooks via RBdigital website or app. Here you will find over 30,000 eaudiobooks - including many best sellers. The pricing model is different and allows us to control costs.

Rocky Hill library cardholders still have access to thousands of electronic items via OverDrive and Ebsco (30,000 fiction and nonfiction ebooks).

We do not make this change lightly and apologize for any inconvenience in having to switch providers.

Sincerely yours,

Mary Hogan, Library Director
