Main Library - Celebrate Women’s Empowerment Month with CCPL. Meet with community organizations that support women's empowerment. In addition, we will feature speakers and film screenings pertaining to women’s empowerment and needs.

Whether your needs are focused on healthcare, education, civic engagement or all of the above, representatives from local organizations will be here to share information and support all women in their ambitions.

1 p.m. | Take Ownership of Your Life Documents, Safely and Securely 
Join us for a conversation with local attorney Melissa Fuller Brown. A well‐respected family law attorney, Melissa was chosen as one of the top female lawyers in the country by Martindale‐Hubbell’s Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers. During this program, Melissa will give an overview of the important documents women should be empowered to manage in their lives, and how to utilize cloud based services, from social media to cloud based security systems safely to maximize and protect their privacy and security. 3 p.m. | Understanding and Getting to Know the Power of You
Join us in an interactive workshop led by women leaders in our community. As advocates for confidence building, these speakers will bring years of experience to the conversation as they discuss how to be better, stronger, and tougher by embracing the qualities that make us unique. By curating a diverse group that reflects the community, this workshop is meant to spark conversation, remove self‐doubt and empower all women.

2 p.m. | Screening of The Post and Courier's Series Till Death Do Us Part
This special investigation explored the toll of domestic violence against South Carolina women, and earned a Pulitzer Prize for  Public Service. *Please note: This video contains words and images that are accurate descriptions of experiences with domestic violence against women. While educational, some parts may cause emotional distress.

3:30 p.m. | Screening of "Hair Love" by Matthew Cherry
An award‐winning animated short film written and directed by Matthew A. Cherry. It follows the story of a man who must do his daughter's hair for the first time.  

4 p.m. | Screening of a Panel Discussion Given by Members of the South Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force
In this presentation, speakers address the nature of human trafficking crimes and the efforts that are underway to prevent them. Advocates for survivors describe the services they provide and how we can help support their mission.
