Exploration Place has Cancelled

We just got a call this morning that the staff member from Exploration Place is sick and they are going to have to cancel their program.

We are moving forward with other Ocean themed activities. There will be a movie on bioluminescent and fluorescent fish in the storytime room. Lots of seashell crafts. Other ocean themed crafts, origami, coloring pages and activity sheets.

Yes, we are bummed, but are having fun anyways!

Thanks to K-State Research and Extension summer interns Katie Elder Baili Kerth and Elaine Cockrost for teaching the kids about the water cycle. Thanks to our summer intern Paige McBride for helping plan and coordinate activities. Thanks Jarod Heinze, Austin Lebien and Jeff Lyne for bringing the fire truck. Thanks to the Bank of Tescott for providing the water. A special thanks to all the parents, caregivers and grandparents who brought the most important thing, all the kids!!!

Oceans of Fun

Parents as Teachers is sponsoring toddler activities including sensory pools and water fun.
K-State Research and Extension Post Rock District will feature three different hands-on activities that demonstrate the water cycle.
The Fire Department will be bringing a truck and if it is warm enough will do a spray.
The library is planning lots of fun water games and activities for older children.

Hopefully the weather will be nice - kids should plan on getting wet and having lots of fun!

Hope to see you there!

The Maker Space is Open

Kids, teens and adults are welcome to use the Library's new Maker Space to build, create, discover and explore. In February the Maker space included supplies to make Valentine's Day Cards. Supplies will be available for building and creating anytime. Watch the Library's facebook page as we come up with ideas for future Maker Space projects.

Teen News

At their last meeting the Library's Teen Advisory Board gave suggestions on how to make the library a community friendly space and shared ideas on ways to bring more people into the library. They also had some great ideas for the Summer Library program. I am constantly impressed with the talents of this group of young people and I am thankful for their help and input. Teens in grades 7-12 can apply for membership. Applications are available at the Library.
