Marion County, WV — April 8, 2025 —Reading aloud is an essential skill that fosters accuracy, speed, expression, and comprehension, but for many young readers, it can also be a source of anxiety. That’s where the gentle presence of certified therapy dogs comes in. Children aged 5-12 can now practice their reading in a calm, judgment-free environment with the help of certified dog-handler teams from Mountaineer Therapy Dogs. This unique opportunity allows young readers to gain confidence while enjoying a supportive and non-pressuring atmosphere. Appointments are available for 15-minute reading sessions, where your child can read aloud to a therapy dog, helping to improve their skills and boost their self-esteem. Space is limited to 20 appointments, and a waitlist will be created for cancellations or additional openings. Walk-ins cannot be guaranteed an appointment. A confirmation email will be sent in return to confirm your appointment. Don’t miss this special opportunity to help your child grow as a reader while enjoying the calming presence of a therapy dog.
