South Country Library
Weekly Round-Up
May 23, 2020
Building community by sharing the wonders of learning, creating and connecting with one another.

Hello & Happy Memorial Day, South Country Community,

The hills are alive, with the sound of...this week's Virtual Vacation, in Austria! Plus we have art programs for adults and teens, and don't forget those upcoming book discussions.

Under Staying Stable, check out the online social hour provided by our neighbors at Middle Country Library, and be sure to put next Saturday's food drive on your calendar if you're able to give.

Leisure & Learning is especially sweet this week -- with celebrity readings of James and the Giant Peach and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone! Plus a truly historic trivia challenge, a live concert from Yo-Yo Ma, and a notice regarding Brookhaven beaches open for Memorial Day Weekend.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and remember the sunscreen besides your mask! You'll hear from us next week.

Savvy Sightseer's Virtual Vacation
Back by popular demand -- four more 30-minute virtual vacations! Here's tour #2!

Austria: Salzburg & Vienna
For many Americans, the Sound of Music was our first introduction to Austria and especially the starring city of Salzburg. There is so much more to this country than its association with a Hollywood production. It was Marie Antoinette’s childhood playground and home base for the rulers of most of central Europe, the Hapsburgs and the Holy Roman Empire. Seventeenth century carillon chimes, trick fountains, imperial jewels and Roman ruins –- so much packed into one country!  Email jsalvatore@stylib.org with the subject “Austria” to receive the video link available for you to view at your convenience.
