Library Closures
The library will close at 12pm on Friday, June 10th because of road closures for the Jeep Festival.
 
The library will be closed Monday, June 20th for a staff in-service training day. 
 
The library is always open online! Check out our app or the e-Resources page of our website to find ebooks, audiobooks, streaming content, and more.

Deep Sea Scavenger Hunt
June 1-30
Children's Department

All June, stop in the children's department to go on a deep sea scavenger hunt. Bookmarks will list 10 items for you to find hidden throughout the department. When you find all 10, take your bookmark to Ms. Tiffany to select a treasure from the treasure chest!

Summer Challenge Kickoff Luau

Families are invited to put on their straw hats and Hawaiian shirts, and join us at the library for an afternoon of fun, games, music, activities, prizes and more!
The Kona Ice Truck will be here from 12-1pm serving up refreshing treats.

YA Summer Reading Challenge Kickoff Luau

Tweens and teens are invited to kickoff Summer Reading 2022 with a luau! Celebrate opening day of The Wave, our new summer YA cafe, with a cool drink!

Learn how to hula dance!
Participate in the limbo contest!
Make your own flower lei or tiki necklace!

This Summer, we’re exploring Oceans of Possibilities at the Butler Library! Tweens and teens are in for a treat! In addition to weekly programs, we are excited to introduce The Wave, your very own YA Zone Café!
You can stop by for Luau Week for a Tropical Fruit Kebab, or visit during Sand and Surf to pick up a Hang-o Ten-go Mango Tango!

While you enjoy your cafe drink or confection, you can join in the weekly activity, set up in the game room, get crafty with make-and-takes, squeeze in some reading time, or take it on the go...The choice is yours!

Sharkbite Cinemas - YA Movie Days

Tweens and teens can stop by every week of Summer Reading to watch a movie at our YA Zone Theater, Sharkbite Cinemas!
 
Every Thursday, we’ll show a movie related to the week’s theme! Our theater is equipped with a projector and surround sound system that are sure to let you get fully immersed in a film!
Our concession stand will be fully stocked with popcorn, ocean-themed gummies, cotton candy, and more! Snacks will change each week, so be sure to stop by so you don't miss them!

Pizza Tasting Contest

We are hosting a pizza tasting contest! Your task is to sample pizzas from all over town and choose the best Butler has to offer!

When you aren't shoveling down the 'za, you can search for clues around the library to lead you to the Secret Krabby Patty Formula!
You can also make a SpongeBob papercraft, or paint a SpongeBob-themed rock!

And don't forget: The Wave will be open with delicious drinks!

Arrrr and avast, ye tweens and teens! We be celebrating Pirate Week of Summer Reading with swashbuckling at Pirate Booty Camp!

Beginner's Yoga

Friends of the Library Update & 2-Day Book Sale
Regular Book Shop hours:
Mondays 11am-3pm
Thursdays 2pm-5pm
 
Our big, two-day book sale is Friday and Saturday, June 3rd and 4th, from 9 am to 3 pm both days.
It will be held in the downstairs meeting rooms. 
 
On Friday, Prices are $1 for hardcover books, CDs, DVDs and Audiobooks. 50c-75c for paperbacks and 25c for kid books. 
 
Saturday is $5 a bag sale 
Shoppers, feel free to bring in your own canvas shopping bags, especially for Saturday’s $5 a bag sale.  
 
We can only take cash or a local check with proper ID. We do not have Credit Card technology. 
We ask that people do not bring in any donations during the sale. After the sale, we will happily take books so we can restock! 
 
June is also graduation time and Father’s Day, so consider gift shopping in our bookstore. Normal bookstore hours are Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm, and Thursdays from 2 to 5 pm.

The Butler Area Public Library Obit and Newspaper Index has citations for over 478,000 newspaper articles published in Butler County newspapers from 1818-2019.
