Friends of the Library Update |
It’s September and the Friends of the Library know if you have kids, things are going to be crazy for a while. Are they back in school or back sitting in the kitchen while Zooming classes? Is there band practice, sports practice, or the scary decision-making process on how to figure out what they want to do when they grow up? (If you don’t have kids, well, carry on.) The Library Friends invite you to pop into the library, relax a bit, and grab yourself some books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, puzzles, and the pleasure of the company of the Friends, who are happy to shamelessly force great books on you just to get you to try something different. As always, hardcovers are $1, paperbacks are 50₵ and books for babies to Young Adults are 25₵.
Plus, mark your calendars for this month’s big Fall two-day book sale, held in the downstairs meeting room. The dates are Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st. Hours both days are 9 am to 3 pm. Saturday will be $5 to fill a bag and you are welcome to bring in your own canvas bags both days. We’ll have bags for you if you forget. Please note we can only take cash or checks with local ID. We cannot take credit cards as we don’t have the technology.
Christmas is coming and we have some gorgeous art books, home decorating, food and wine books that make great gifts. We have Clive Cussler, Nora Roberts, Nancy Drew; audiobooks, DVDs, CDs. And please, if you want to donate books for the sale, do it before the week of the sale, as we are very busy. Or save them until after the sale so we can have fresh product.
The bookstore is open Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm and Thursdays from 2 to 5 pm.
Finally, one of our young adult patrons has asked us to spread the word that The Tiger at Midnight, the first book in an epic heart-pounding fantasy trilogy inspired by ancient Indian history and Hindu mythology, is perfect for fans of Sabaa Tahir and Renée Ahdieh. Written by Swati Teerdhala. Please remember we all have different opinions on book topics, so do a little research on this series before deeming it appropriate for you or your child.
