Friends of the Library Update |
|
|
It’s August and there’s still plenty of time to take a vacation or two. The Friends of the Library want to make sure everyone is prepared during those long lines at the airport, traffic jams or family camping trips where not everyone enjoys the beauty of bug, bear or snake-filled nature. You’re going to need some books and boy, do we have them! This month we’re featuring Clive Cussler, Peter Robinson’s DCI Banks series, Donna Leon’s Commissario Brunetti series, Tana French, Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series, Amish romance, and…well… come to the Friends of the Library’s bookstore and see what else we’ve got for your reading pleasure. (Disclaimer: we DO NOT have complete sets in the aforementioned series.)
Bookstore hours are Mondays from 11 am to 3 pm, and Thursdays from 2 pm to 5 pm. Book prices are $1 for a hardcover, 50c for a paperback and 25c for kid books. Puzzles, DVDs, CDs and audiobooks are $1 each. The August specialty sale is Religion for 25c each.
On Saturday, August 6th, the library is hosting Game Day, which runs from 11 am to 3:30 pm. The Library Friends will be there to feed hungry gamers, selling a hotdog, bag of chips and bottle of water for $2, plus the bookstore will be open 10:30am-2:30pm for gamers to take advantage of our sales.
Coming up quickly is our big, two-day fall book sale: Friday, September 30th and Saturday, October 1st, from 9 am to 3 pm both days. Saturday is $5 fill a bag and everyone is invited to bring their own canvas bags. Not to scare you but Christmas is right around the corner and books make great gifts! A reminder: we can only accept cash or local checks with proper ID. We DO NOT take credit cards as we do not have the technology. Finally, a quick plea to people planning to donate books around the time of the sale. PLEASE bring donations before the sale and not the days of. We are too busy during the sale. Or, wait until after the sale when we’ll be needing fresh stock. As always, thank you for supporting the library and the bookstore.
