What the book?
Library collections are vast. Any librarian will tell you: dig deep enough and you will discover some truly astonishing, strange, and awful books.

So why not have some fun and get creative with them? It's time for a round of What the Book?!

Submit a title for the book below, and we'll share our favorites (along with the real title) in next week's newsletter for your enjoyment!

Answer time
Last week, we offered you a series of unusual-looking houses and asked you to guess which one was located in the United States. 44% of trivia participants correctly selected Eliphante, in Cornville, Arizona!

Eliphante's unusually-shaped entrance is made from materials like rocks and driftwood.

Eliphante is a whole complex of buildings spanning three acres. It was built by Michael Kahn and Leda Livant from 1979, when their work there began, until Kahn's death in 2007.

to serve you in person again
The Cedar Mill Community Library Association is one of the largest nonprofit library associations in the United States. It was founded in 1974 by a group of citizens who volunteered their free time to start a library for their community. They collected book donations and held an annual rummage sale called the M.E.S.S. (Misc. Etc. Super Sale), the precursor of our current Second Edition Resale shop.

Our owl mascot, Wiser, has been our symbol since 1976, but didn't get his name until 1996 when we finally held a contest to name him!

Staff at both the Cedar Mill Library and the Bethany Library are eager to serve you in person again soon.

New and wonderful
The Road to Wellville by T.C. Boyle
"This is one of my all-time favorites, and is a great example of why I love the humorous and well researched historical fictions by T.C. Boyle. The story takes us through uncanny events that lead to the creation of Kellogg’s cereal." -Jessica, Bethany Library
The King at the Edge of the World by Arthur Phillips
"Fans of historical fiction will enjoy this one. It's set in Elizabethan England, where Elizabeth is dying without a child and the realm is preparing for war as various entities vie to fill the vacuum." -Mark, Cedar Mill Library
Sole Survivor by Dean Koontz
"A dark thriller where a broken man who lost his family in a plane crash receives news that his daughter might still be alive. On his journey to find her, he uncovers a world more twisted than he ever imagined." -Brett, Cedar Mill Library
