An Afternoon of Stories with Carmen Agra Deedy Saturday, August 2 at 3 PM Join us for an afternoon with internationally renowned author and storyteller Carmen Agra Deedy, known for her beloved books Martina the Beautiful Cockroach, The Library Dragon, and her latest, The Peanut Man, as she brings her stories to life with warmth, humor, and heart. This special event is a celebration of culture and imagination. Don't miss the opportunity to experience seeing one of the world's finest storytellers in person! Little Blue Truck Storytime Monday, August 11 at 10:30 AM Beep, beep! Calling all car and truck fans for this special family storytime where we'll read, sing and play together! The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy donated materials to support this storytime in honor of the 100th anniversary of the former first lady's birth.

Decorate a Pencil Cup Thursday, August 14 from 3:30-4:30 PM Keep your writing utensils organized this school year in a stunning, custom-designed pencil cup! We will use washi tape to create unique wooden desk accessories. Supplies are limited and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

Summer Reading Through August 15 Plot your escape this summer at Charleston County Public Library as we host our 2025 Summer Reading Program, Read Around the World. In partnership with Charleston County School District (CCSD), this year's program invites readers of all ages to explore new worlds through books, enjoy special events throughout the summer, and earn prizes along the way. This year, Summer Reading prizes will become available on set dates as you reach your reading milestones. Earn your prizes while supplies last and pick them up throughout the summer starting on the following dates: - 5-hour prizes available starting June 16
- 15-hour prizes available starting July 7
- 30-hour prizes available starting July 21

Robotics Drop-In Monday, August 4 from 1-2 PM Come learn about robotics from the Orange Grove Robotics Club! See some of the robots they have built and try driving one! Whether you're a student interested in learning more or just a curious adult, come admire their creations or ask questions about their work designing, coding, and building bots.

Puzzle Swap Friday, August 15-Saturday, August 30 Beat the heat and work on a puzzle! Pick up a new-to-you puzzle at our swap and/or donate a puzzle to others. All puzzle sizes are welcome, but we do ask that they have all of their pieces. Donated puzzles can be dropped off at the library ahead of time.

Programming note: Storytimes at Hurd/St. Andrews will go on a two-week hiatus beginning the week of August 18. Our regular programming schedule will resume in September.
