Music Sarah L.'s Pick Cracker Islandby Gorillaz Gorillaz has released yet another wonderful mix of music genres in their latest album Cracker Island. House, pop, hip-hop, and rock all shine through in it. Damon Albarn evokes the occult to describe change in an increasingly online obsessed world. Tracks like “The Tired Influencer” and “Silent Running” despair at the cult-like behavior on social media and in the music industry while “New Gold” has a more upbeat and tongue-in-cheek outlook on it. Albarn lets his featured artists dominate the sound in each track. Tame Impala, Bad Bunny, Thundercat, Stevie Nicks, and more all give this eighth addition to the Gorillaz universe a rich, colorful mood with a dash of melancholy. Available on Hoopla.
