Farmer's Market Saturdays this Summer, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find our table at the Farmer's Market this summer at the brand new Community Center. Younger kids will enjoy a story time on June 8th, July 13th, and August 10th (check out the details below), and our staff will be happy to see everyone there!

New to the Library: Wonderbooks Welcome to the newest addition at your Library: Wonderbooks! These are print books with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Kids can press play to read along with favorite books and then can switch to learning mode for literacy learning and fun. We have picture books, early readers, chapter books, and more! All read-alongs checkout for 28 days. Each is charged for 16 hours worth of “play time.” Visit the Children's Room or click/tap this link to see what we have!

New Display: Alzheimer's Awareness Month All June June is Alzheimer's Awareness Month and, with help from the Alzheimer's Association, we've put together a display in recognition of that. Approximately 1 in every 9 people will develop Alzheimer's and if you or a family member is at risk for this condition we hope this collection will help inform you so you can take the initiative and start preparations. We also invite you to visit the Alzheimer's Association's website for more resources.

New Display: Wonderful World of PoultryAll June In celebration of adding Chickens, the Essential Poultry Publication, to the library, we’re excited to announce our new Wonderful World of Poultry display! This collection has everything you need to get started raising and keeping chickens, or to satisfy your curiosity about those who do. Whatever your reason, we invite you to check out any of these books, or put them on hold if they’ve already been taken out.

Feedback Request: Electronics InstructionWe had a great turn out for the recent LIBBY Basics course at the library, and we think that having more instructional classes in the future would be a good idea. So we're opening the floor to our patrons: If we were to teach more classes in this vein, what would you want the subject to be? Please share your thoughts with us using our library's suggestion box, either in person or on our website.

Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, June 4th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our June meeting the PPL Book Club is reading The Mostly True Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley, the story of a not-to-be-underestimated elderly woman and an aimless young woman who—if they can outrun the mistakes of their past—might just have the greatest adventure of their lives. Yoga Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Led by Kim Norton and other instructors from the YogaConnection of Plymouth. Open to all levels and any body!. A single-class drop-in is $12 and a four-class registration is $45 ($35 for Friends members). Friends members can also purchase an eight-class punch ticket for $80, which is valid for three months. Mosquito and Tick Control Wednesday, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. Join Erin Morrill and Blake Dinius as they discuss Mosquitos and Ticks, from biology and ecology to management and prevention, Erin and Blake offer breadth of knowledge on the subject of these summer bugs. Brought to us from the Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project, this talk is going to cover everything you need to keep yourself and your community safe, as well as detailing the resources made available to the community by the PCMCP.

PPL Mystery Book Club Thursday, June 20th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. This month's selection is Zero Days by Ruth Ware: Hired by companies to break into buildings and hack security systems, Jack and her husband, Gabe, are the best penetration specialists in the business. A Day in the Life of a Whaler Tuesday, June 25th at 2:00 pm Welcome Captain Michael HM Taylor and Nancy Gentile as they share what it was like to be on a Whaling Voyage! This in-person presentation includes information about the crews, a description of a whaling ship, The Lagoda, as well as information about the geography of the voyage, the whaling business in the 20th-century, and the women in whaling, as well as a harpoon and samples of baleen. This is a drop-in event, no registration required.

Genealogy Night Tuesday, June 25th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Are you interested in finding out more about your genealogy? Do you have a cool story about one of your ancestors you want to share? Join in our monthly Genealogy Night to chat with other family history buffs! All are welcome to attend, from experienced researchers who would like to share tips or stories about great finds, to beginners who want to learn more about the research process and online resources. Library laptops will be available to explore Ancestry Library Edition.

June Teen Take-And-Make: Foam Frogs Available beginning June 1st while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and craft a foam frog magnet. These crafts are kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library.

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Toddlers (ages 2 to 5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, games, and stories that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft.

Baby Lapsit Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child. Each 30-minute program includes stretches, songs, and rhymes followed by an open play time that allows babies to play and grown-ups to chat.

Farmers Market Storytime Saturday, June 8th, from 11:00-11:30am Join Miss Melissa for a storytime geared toward ages 4-8 at the Pembroke Farmers Market (outside the Community Center). Families can also pick up a special farm-themed sticker scene. Siblings and friends are welcomed!

LEGO Club Tuesday, June 11th from 4:00-5:00pm Kids ages 4+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring neighbors, big siblings, and school friends and get creative. This month's theme is "Ultimate Playground."

Anime Club Thursday, June 13th from 4:00-5:30pm Ages 11 - 15 are invited to watch anime, snack, craft, and socialize. This month attendees will watch episodes 22 - 24 from Demon Slayer (Rated TV-14) and create a themed craft!

Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, June 20th from 4:15-5:00pm Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence.

|
Chess Club Wednesday, June 26th from 4:00-5:00pm Youth and families can learn and play chess at the Library. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Arthropod Petting Zoo and Busy Bug Day Thursday, June 27th from 1:00-4:00pm Kids will learn all about arthropods, the most diverse group of animal life on the planet, in a show-and-tell-and-touch program! Learn, see, hear, touch, and even smell the incredible adaptations these creatures have that help them survive in the wild with Professor Bugman's Arthropod Petting Zoo. Other hands-on learning centers will be available for kids to explore the world of bugs! This is a drop-in event best for ages 3 - 11. Families can come anytime during the three hour program.

Dungeons and Dragons (Ages 11-14) Thursday, June 27th, from 3:00-4:30pm Tweens (11-14) will join a band of fellow adventurers in this four session introduction to Dungeons and Dragons! Attendees will create a character and participate in a quest through teamwork and collaboration to achieve a unique goal! Sessions for this adventure will be on Thursdays June 27, July 11, July 18, and July 25. Registration is required; visit
