BOOtacular Candy & Costumes Thursday, October 24th from 4:00-5:30pm All ages can visit the Library and the Council on Aging for a special event of treats (no tricks!). Both locations will have treats/candy and activities. Violet the Clown will be visiting the Library for face painting and balloon twisting! This event is free and open to all youth; costumes are encouraged but not required. Non-food treats will be available.

Pembroke Public Library Book Club Tuesday, October 1st from 6:30-7:30 p.m. For our October meeting the PPL Book Club is reading North Woods by Daniel Mason, a sweeping novel about a single house in the woods of New England, told through the lives of those who inhabit it across the centuries. Yoga Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. Led by Diana Gilchrist, Kim Norton, and other instructors from the YogaConnection in Plymouth. Open to all levels! A single-class drop-in is $12 and a four-class registration is $45 ($35 for Friends members). Friends members can purchase an eight-class punch ticket for $80, which is valid for three months. Your hostess will be Dolley Madison, the Quaker child who transformed into one of America’s most powerful First Ladies. Discover how this patriot used her charm, wit, and resourcefulness to unite a contentious Congress and influence the country socially and politically. Janet Parnes of Historical Portrayals by Lady J will portray Mrs. Madison.

PPL Mystery Book Club Thursday, October 17th from 1:30-2:30 p.m. This month's selection is Here in the Dark by Alexis Soloski: Angling for a promotion, Vivian Parry, former actress and current junior theater critic, agrees to an interview which reveals secrets she thought long since buried. When her interviewer disappears and she’s the last person to see him alive, she does what she promised herself she’d never do again: she plays a part. Assuming the role of amateur detective, she investigates the disappearance herself, and begins to find that the boundaries between theater and the real world are more tenuous and more dangerous than even she could have believed. Genealogy Night Tuesday, October 29th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Are you interested in finding out more about your genealogy? Do you have a cool story about one of your ancestors you want to share? Join in our monthly Genealogy Night to chat with other family history buffs! All are welcome to attend, from experienced researchers who would like to share tips or stories about great finds, to beginners who want to learn more about the research process and online resources. Ghosts of the Bridgewater Triangle Wednesday, October 30th at 6:00 p.m. Join paranormal researcher, adventurer, and self-described “all-around weirdo” Tim Weisberg as he takes us on a virtual trip through the infamous Bridgewater Triangle, sharing the history and the haunts of the region. He'll talk about the legends and real-life truths behind the strange phenomena that has permeated the area for centuries.

Hungrytown Concert Thursday, November 7th at 6:30 p.m. American folk music duo Hungrytown comes to the Pembroke Public Library! Join us in welcoming this true artistic hybrid band, which combines Celtic and Americana, ballads and psychedelia, sunshine and darkness, joy and despair, to create timeless songs with gorgeous vocal harmonies. Hungrytown's music has received extensive radio airplay worldwide and has appeared on several television shows, including The Daily Show and Portlandia.

October Teen Take-And-Make: Mosaic Ghosts Available beginning October 1st while supplies last We know teens are busy with school, work, chores, and more so we're giving you an opportunity to craft on your own time. Pick up a Craft Kit in the YA Lounge and craft a sparkly Mosaic Ghost. These crafts are kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Pembroke Public Library.

Storytime Mondays and Tuesdays at 10:30am Toddlers (ages 2 to 5) and their caregivers can enjoy an interactive storytime with songs, dances, and a story that encourage language development and social skills. Each themed storytime is followed by a craft. There will be no Storytime on Monday, October 14.

Baby Lapsit Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Designed for babies and toddlers from 6 to 24 months, Lapsits are a great chance for caregivers to bond with their child. Each 30-minute program includes stretches, songs, and rhymes followed by an open play time that allows babies to play and grown-ups to chat.

LEGO Club Tuesday, October 8th from 4:00-5:00pm Kids ages 4+ are welcome to visit and build with the library LEGOs. Bring neighbors, big siblings, and school friends and get creative. This month's theme is "Good vs. Evil." This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Anime Club Thursday, October 10th from 4:15-5:45pm Ages 11 - 15 are invited to watch anime, snack, craft and socialize. This month attendees will enjoy episodes 4 - 6 of Hunter x Hunter (TV-14) and craft with perler beads.This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Puppy Dog Tales Thursday, October 17th from 4:15-5:00pm Readers of all ages may read to a certified therapy dog to develop their literacy and presentation skills as well as build confidence and self-esteem. This is a drop-in event; no registration is needed.

Monster Mash Mystery Room (Ages 9-16) Tuesday, October 22nd from 4:00-5:00pm Ages 9-16 are welcomed to test their skills in this Monster Mash Mystery Room. First you'll discover if you're a Vampire, Werewolf, or Witch then work to earn enough doubloons by doing tricky tasks and mind tickling games to become the leader of your monster clan. Participants will be put into teams of similar ages and work together with peers and friends. Witch's Storytime (ages 4 - 8) Tuesday, October 29th from 4:00-5:00pm Ages 4-8 can join Miss Kiki in a bewitching storytime "Wanted: Witch's Cat" by Jay H. Davidson. Kids will then get to craft their own cats with paper, wiggle eyes, glitter glue, and more!
