Fifty years ago, at Town Meeting on April 12, 1976, the residents of Rochester voted unanimously to accept "a proposed deed of gift from Dorothy B. Plumb in memory of her late husband Joseph H. Plumb conveying to the Town for the use of Rochester Free Public Library also parcel of land at Rochester Common" (Article 22, Town of Rochester Annual Report 1976, page 13).

We are kicking off our 50th anniversary celebrations this year with a special limited edition library card featuring a drawing of Plumb Library on the front! These cards are free of charge, but must be activated as a library card in our system. If you already have a card, you can visit the library to trade it in for our new card at no cost. If you don't have a card, it's just a quick form to fill out at the library and we can get you a shiny new card featuring Rochester's library on the front!

Calling all crocheters, sewists, and more! If you like to DIY, come to our new Crafty Creators Club! Bring a project to work on while hanging out with other creative kids.

While limited instruction or assistance may be available from peers, this is primarily a social event.

Do you like to build things with Lego? Join other kids once a month for free build and play! Collaborate on a giant build or work on your own vision. Build, create, meet new friends, and have fun!

Come by the library to play with STEM toys during April vacation!

Come to the library during April Vacation to play video games with friends! Nintendo Switch and games will be provided to play together, no need to bring your own unless you want to. Example games include Super Smash Bros, Splatoon, Tetris, Mario Kart, and more! No registration necessary, just come ready to play!

For ages 12-18

“Where do you get your ideas?” Well, it could be here! Drop into the Writer’s Group and potentially get a thought going that could develop into something more. Participate in three rounds of being given a prompt, writing for 10 minutes, reading aloud and moving on. No comparisons - just a kickstart to add to the pile for fun or the future. Meets every third Thursday of the month.

Fun, seasonally-themed refreshments will be served! 

Join fellow knitters and crocheters every week. Beginners are welcome.
Chocolate is always served!

Storytime isn't just for kids! Adults enjoy listening to stories, too. Sit back, relax, and be transported as Plumb Library Director, Kristen Cardoso, reads a short story aloud. Light refreshments will be served. Come share your favorite reads from the Massachusetts Center for the Book's 2026 Reading Challenge for Adults, or just come learn more about the challenge! No registration required.
