Happy Spring Swansea! Join us in celebrating National Library Week, from Monday, April 6 through Saturday, April 12. This week is an annual celebration highlighting the role librarians, library workers and libraries play in strengthening our communities. You may have heard a bit about the Institute of Museum and Library Services, or IMLS, recently. This is an independent agency of the federal government and the main source of federal support for libraries and museums in the United States. It was targeted for elimination by Executive Order on March 14. Massachusetts receives $3.6 million in aid from the federal government in the Grants to the States program. Massachusetts uses these funds for our statewide database program, ComCat program (interlibrary loan throughout Massachusetts), ebooks and audiobooks, local grants and disaster mitigation efforts. For more information, please visit the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioner's website. Hope to see you soon! Jocelyn Tavares, Library Director
