A call for participants:
The COVID-19/Coronavirus Pandemic has affected the Athens-Clarke County area and surrounding communities in a variety of ways. The Heritage Room at the Athens-Clarke County Library's mission is to document the history of our whole community. In times of crisis, Athens are surrounding areas are communities who comes together; this is evident amongst the service industry, music industry, small business efforts, right down to the individuals out there volunteering their time and efforts to help others.
The Heritage Room at the Athens-Clarke County Library envisions collecting and preserving stories from the Athens-Clarke County Community and surrounding communities within the Athens Regional Library System service area Madison County, Oconee County, Oglethorpe County, and Franklin County. The ultimate goal of this project is to preserve your stories and vignettes of your daily lives to share with future students, historians, and researchers. This is a time for us to record our daily experiences, emotions, and thoughts in diary form--whether that is in writing, video, or voice note. It is truly a unique opportunity for you, your children, or for your students to be a part of history. No detail is too mundane or boring. Everyone's experience is unique and the Heritage Room wants to make sure to save yours!
