We are pleased to announce that on Monday, July 13, the Slave Lake Library will be reopening to the public!
We would like to take a moment to thank all of our patrons for their patience as we prepared the library for this reopening, and we are very excited to welcome everyone back in!
However, new rules and restrictions have been put in place to ensure the safety of both patrons and staff and we ask that you read the following post carefully.
Borrowing and Returns
-We encourage a grab-and-go service. While our stacks will be open, we ask that you do not browse for too long. You can request material in advance and staff will retrieve them for you.
-If you have a hold placed on an item, please wait for a notification from us that your item is available for pick-up before coming in.
-All material returned to the library will be quarantined for 5 days before being checked in. (Any fines that accrue during this time will be waived until further notice.)
-Curbside Pickup Services will still be available to those who wish to use it.
Facilities
-The number of patrons in the building will be limited to 10. Please be patient and wait in the foyer or outside if we are at capacity.
-We encourage our patrons to limit their time spent in the library and not to linger too long. We suggest aiming your visit to be about 15 minutes.
-One-way traffic in the aisles. Please pay attention to the arrows on the floor and the 2-meter tape.
-Please refrain from unnecessarily touching books on the shelves and take only what you want. If you do touch a book and decide not to check it out, please place it in one of the quarantine bins located throughout the library.
-The Lion’s Den, game station and children’s computers are not open at this time.
-At this time there is no seating available. We ask that you come in to borrow or order materials only.
-Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the library.
-There will be no access to public washrooms until further notice.
-Please check out our new temporary hours.
-We may be closing unexpectedly from time to time to clean and sanitize the library as required.

Computers and Photocopying
-Only two adult computers will be available each day.
-Access to the computers will be by appointment only. Please call the library to book your appointment at 780-849-5250.
-Photocopying, scanning, and printing services are available.
-Masks should be worn if using the computers. You can bring your own or the library will provide you with one.
Staff
-Masks/Face Coverings will be worn by staff outside of staff only areas, when assisting patrons, or when a distance of 2 meters cannot be maintained.
- The Front Desk is equipped with plexiglass barriers to safely separate staff and patrons.
Miscellaneous
-Donations of used books/materials will not be accepted at this time.
-Book Sale Items are unavailable until further notice.
