In this virtual session with Meg O'Rourke of Harmony With Food, Meg will speak about Firmicutes and how studies have shown that a higher abundance of Firmicutes in the gut microbiome is associated with increased energy absorption and fat deposition, potentially leading to weight gain.

This suggests that an imbalance in gut bacteria may contribute to weight loss resistance. Addressing such imbalances through dietary changes and functional nutrition approaches could aid in achieving sustainable weight loss and improved health.

At Harmony with Food, we aim to empower patients with the knowledge and tools to optimize their health through functional medicine.

A link to the event will be emailed the day before the event.

Join Jill Briansky of Purple Lotus for this grounding meditation.

Within each of us lives a rich inner world made up of many parts—each holding unique energy, emotion, and wisdom. Some parts protect us, some carry old stories, and others are waiting to be seen and embraced. In this heart-centered talk, we’ll explore the nature of these internal energy parts and how they influence the way we move.

Through gentle guidance and embodied presence, you'll be led in a grounding meditation to meet and connect with one of your inner parts—the one that’s ready to step forward and be witnessed. This experience is an invitation to deepen your self-awareness, soften into compassion, and begin (or continue) the healing dialogue within.

Whether you're familiar with inner parts work or just beginning to explore your energetic landscape, this experience offers a sacred space for insight, healing, and connection to your true essence.

Bead Therapy is an expressive arts workshop that teaches participants the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones.

The materials used are semi-precious stones and other natural jewelry materials. Semi-precious stones have been appreciated for generations for their unique beauty, healing & grounding properties.

The atmosphere of the workshop is a tranquil, meditative, interactive space that encourages participants to be present and at ease while creating. It gives the participants the creative power to express how they feel and allows them to see how their feelings look in a form of art they produced.

This is not a space for group clinical therapy but rather a space that allows participants to express creativity through the means of a tactile art form.

Monday Night Genealogy Drop-In: Find a Community While Searching for your Ancestors.

The Bridgewater Public Library invites all family historians to meet informally on Monday evenings to research together! Whether you have been researching for years or you’re just getting started, it’s always more fun to work together.

Bridgewater Public Library subscribes to Ancestry Library Edition (so you don’t have to) and we recently became a FamilySearch Affiliate Library, too. We also have many resources in the History Room.

All of this is available anytime the library is open, of course, but we’re hoping that researching together on Monday nights will help us build a genealogical community while we each build our family trees.

About the Artist:

Michael Hubert is a visual artist and teacher who for the past three decades has had a studio and home in South Dartmouth, MA. Born and raised in Central Massachusetts, Michael graduated from Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth with a BFA in 1973 and a Masters in Art Education in 1980. Before retiring in 2020 Michael and his wife Christine operated their arts based independent school, the Dartmouth Early Learning Center for 42 years.

Michael brings a sophisticated approach to his paintings through a unique balance of color, composition and texture. In addition to the Art Drive, Michael’s studio is open by appointment. His work can be found within private collections around the country.

About the Exhibit:

Art can be a challenge. It can be both frustrating and rewarding at the same time, enjoyable when things click, other times not so much. The role of risk taking and failure play a significant part of the creative process, hopefully leading to a sense of accomplishment and a determination to do more. Hopefully, my art brings joy, it solves problems, and it presents the familiar with a fresh perspective.

Michael Hubert's exhibition, “The Acceptance of Risk” will remain on display in the Flora T. Little Art Gallery through the month of June.
