Bead Therapy is an expressive arts workshop.
This workshop teaches participants the basics of beaded jewelry making and the difference between semi-precious stones and precious stones. The materials used are semi-precious stones and other natural jewelry materials. Semi-precious stones have been appreciated for generations for their unique beauty and healing and grounding properties. The atmosphere of the workshop is a tranquil, meditative, interactive space that encourages participants to be present and at ease while creating. It gives the participants the creative power to express how they feel and allows them to see how their feelings look in a form of art they produced. This is not a space for group clinical therapy but rather a space that allows participants to express creativity through the means of a tactile art form. As a mental health clinician, I leveraged Bead Therapy for clients with anxiety, children with ADHD, and those who prefer a different form of therapy through self-expression. Bead Therapy creates a safe space for anyone who is looking to explore their creativity and sense of self through jewelry making.
Each piece of art created represents the emotions of the creator. Each attendee will create one bracelet which they can keep. |

Are you and your friends or family looking to do some volunteer work? On Wednesday, January 17th at 6:00PM, the Bridgewater Public Library is hosting a Dress A Girl Around the World dress kit workshop. Dress A Girl provides hand-sewn dresses to young girls in need in the US and around the world. At this workshop, we will be creating dress kits for future sewing workshops. This involves measuring and matching fabric to trims and accessories and then bagging them. (No sewing involved) All materials will be provided.
This will be a fun, but meaningful activity for the entire family. Please join us! Community service hours can be earned by doing this event. |

Artist Reception: Saturday, January 13 at 1:00PM
| Come meet this month's artist in a casual meet and greet. All are welcome to drop-in and see some cool artwork! | About the Exhibit |
Kal-El's exhibit is a collection of multicolored images with an extraterrestrial vibe. He states that his impressions were mostly developed from small errors and imperfections in random drawings. Kal-El would begin drawing a simple figure and if a line or shade went in an unplanned direction, instead of stopping there and starting over, he would add an identical piece or build upon the "accident". This is how Kal-El ended up with some of his most captivating pieces yet! Kal-El's framed artwork and merchandise such as t-shirts, hats and hoodies are available on special order. |
About the Artist |
Kal-El is a six year old boy who loves multiple forms of art, like drawing, coloring, building and making his own music. He also thoroughly enjoys numbers and is always ready to get into math mode. His other interests include swimming, dancing and karate. However, Kal-El's number one go-to activity is creating his own images and bringing them to life with bright, eye-catching colors. This often helps him to stay in a calm and relaxed mood, and he can usually be heard humming his own tunes while creating his art.
If you liked Kal-El's work, be sure to follow him on Instagram.
