Summer Reading Challenge for Adults & Teens
Young Woman Enjoying Reading a Book
This summer, the Dartmouth libraries are providing their first full summer of programming for all ages since the COVID pandemic began in 2020. The adult and teen summer reading and the adult movie programs have been reinstated, and will be offered at the North Branch Library for the first time, as well as Southworth Library. The theme for this year's summer reading program is Read Beyond the Beaten Path.

Adults and teens are invited to sign up for the summer reading program at either library. Summer readers are eligible to win prizes purchased through the generosity of The Friends of the Dartmouth Libraries and through other donations. You may read anything you like in any format, books, e-books, newspapers, magazines, etc. or listen to electronic and/or recorded books. Here’s how the adult and teen summer reading program works:
  1. Fill out a registration card at a Dartmouth library, and pick up some reading cards to keep track of your reading. You may track either pages or minutes.
  2. On the reading card, fill in an X for every 60 pages you read or 60 minutes you listen.
  3. When all the X’s are filled, bring your card to the library and drop it in the collection box.
  4. Winners will be chosen every week by drawing cards from the box. The more you read, the more chances you have to win!
  5. When you have filled in a reading card (6 hours or 360 pages), bring it to the library and drop it in the Adults & Teens Prize Collection Box.
  6.  Names will be drawn from the prize box every week for 6 weeks.
  7. The prizes are gift cards to area Dartmouth businesses.
