Blooming Creativity Night for Teens & AdultsTuesday, May 16th 6:30PM To celebrate Books in Bloom and Mental Health Awareness month, teens and adults are welcome to stop by the library between 6:30 and 7:30PM for a relaxing evening of floral themed crafts, a little tea drinking, soothing music and each other's company!! We will have 3 crafting stations where attendees can make watercolor booksmarks, 3D tissue paper flowers and color fun floral designs! No artistic experience is required. Environmental Stewardship Through Sustainable Gardening Thursday, May 25th 6:30PMAs part of our month-long Books in Bloom event, all are welcome to learn more about the concept of responsible use and protection of the natural environment through conservation and sustainable gardening practices. Casey E. Doyle, a premiere agriculture and soil scientist, will share sustainable gardening practices that cause no harm to the earth and reduce negative environmental impacts. Ms. Doyle will also discuss the importance of planting native species to save diversity in our gardens for the health and well-being for our pollinators and the environment. Casey Doyle holds a Master of Science degree from Green Mountain College in Sustainable Food Systems. She is a registered presenter with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) in the area of agriculture and environmental science.This IN PERSON program is free and open to all. Spice Club: Orange Blossom Water Wed., May 17th
"Orange" you glad we chose Orange Blossom Water? Do you love to cook and want to try new flavors and recipes? Or maybe you’re tired of cooking the same old thing and want to try something new? Then we have got just the club for you!!! Time to get spicy and join the Mansfield Public Library’s Spice Club! Every month, a new spice and recipes will be featured each month. We will provide a Spice Pack which will include: - Information and history of each featured spice.
Two new recipes from A to Z World Food database (A Mansfield Public Library card is required to access this database). Pre-measured featured spice for the two recipes that month
Once registered, come to the library on Wednesday, May 17th, to pick up the kit.
Be sure to register individually if you have more than one person to sign up. The spice club is open to ages 13 and up.

Music Education for School Age Children!Tuesday, May 16, 23, 30 and June 6 4:00-5:00 PM Join Ms. Gina and Ms. Jen for this 4-week program for school-aged children and their parents (kindergarten through 4th Grade). Children will be introduced to different types of musical instruments and various genres of music. In addition, participants will learn how to read and understand basic music notes. Saturday, May 20, 10:30-11:30 AM Children in grades K-6 are invited to practice their reading skills with a patient, supportive (and adorable!) listener: a certified therapy dog! Children can choose a book from the library or bring one from home, and will have 5-10 minutes to read to either Cindy the Corgi or Hadley the Newfoundland. There is no registration required, but children will be asked to check in upon arrival and wait for their turn to read (and stay for an additional turn if time allows)! Heritage Museums & Gardens Looking for a great place to visit during “Books in Bloom” month (after visiting our library, of course!)? How about Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich, MA, which opened for the season on April 22 this year! And to make your visit even better, be sure to borrow our library pass to lower your cost of admission! Besides all of the beautiful flowers and walking trails, an antique car collection, a working vintage carousel, and a treehouse for the kids, there are also several special exhibits: “Otherworldly” (which starts in mid-May), “Creating Cape Cod,” and “From Carriage to Classic.” For more information about these exhibits, please visit their website https://heritagemuseumsandgardens.org/ This specific museum pass admits up to 6 individuals at 50% off the admission price of $22 per adult (ages 18 & up) and $12 per youth (ages 3-17). Kids aged 2 and under are always free. Friends of the Library Book Sale The Friends of the Library happily accept donations of books in excellent condition, to add to their year-round Book Sale inside the Library.
To make a donation, please call to make an appointment 508-261-7380. Please do not leave donations outside the library or in the book drop. The Friends offer a variety of books for all ages. Most items cost $1! The Friends do not accept: - Books that have been stored in an attic or basement
- Books that have mildew or mold
- Books with missing, yellowed or written in pages
- Books without the dust jacket
- Textbooks
