 October 2024

To our Transatlantic routes!

Às nossas vias transatlânticas!

Cosmos are flowers that signal the transition between the end of summer and the beginning of fall. In Portugal, these flowers are called flores de outubro / October flowers.

Local poet, James Bobrick, describes in his poem "Topos" the universal theme of change. He was inspired by Luís de Camões, whose 500th birthday is being celebrated in 2024!

Tópos

(inspirado em Camões)
Mudam-se os tempos, mudam-se os sentires
perda de confiança, confiança;
o que antes foi desejado tem de agora
parecer novo e estranho.

As memórias mancham,
as esperanças vão-se perdendo;
dos contentamentos (contentamentos?) — apenas
restam as saudades.

O tempo transforma o que do ano
é branco sem vida em verde,
as minhas palavras em lágrimas —

a mudança, a cada dia vista,
assemelha-se em si mesma
a uma mudada rotina.
