Summer is officially here along with another year of Summer Reading. Stop by our Children's Section and sign up with Miss Lorie for our Read to Bead Program and don't forget about our summer children's programs at 1:00 every Monday throughout the summer beginning on July 8th. This month will feature candle making, wand making, spray-dye T-shirts, and slime day. Our weekly summer bird walks will begin on July 9th and run through August 20th. We are also excited to partner with the Dighton Fire Department to present Storytime with a Firefighter on July 11th at 1:00. The Library will also be hosting a program on the history of Nancy Drew on July 13th at 3:00 and a college admission workshop on July 25th at 6:30. The college admission workshop will be geared towards high school Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors and will contain many valuable tips about the admission process in addition to maximizing financial aid. All you need is a Dighton library card to get started, and you can read through their full collection, teen library, or children's library. The History and Mystery of Nancy Drew

Stop by Old Town Hall on Saturday July 13th at 3:00 and to learn about the history of the iconic Nancy Drew from collector and super fan Alicia Mello. For over twenty years, Alicia has been collecting Nancy Drew items and developed a passion for the history. The program is free to attend, and no registration is required.

Join Honoria DaSilva-Kilgore, attorney and founder of Personal College Counseling, Inc. (PCCI) as she leads a free college admissions workshop on Thursday July 25th at 6:30 at Old Town Hall. The workshop is geared towards high school Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors in addition to their families. Attorney DaSilva-Kilgore will offer helpful insight on topics including: the college application process, choosing a college/university that is a good match for the student, and getting the best financial package and maximizing merit scholarship dollars. Join the Traveling Book Group and travel around the world through books. This month, the book club will travel to Long Island by reading Girls Like Us by Cristina Alger on Wednesday July 31st in the Children's Section located in the Lower Level of the Town Hall at 6:00. Copies of books are available at the library for anybody looking to take part in the group. The Traveling Book Group meets on the last Wednesday of each month, and anybody interested is welcome to attend.

Save the date for the evening of Saturday August 3rd for a Movie Under the Stars behind Town Hall. Sponsored by the Dighton Public Library with help from the Friends of the Dighton Public Library, the program is free to attend and no registration is required. Tot Time Join Ms. Lorie Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 in July for songs, stories, and finger-plays for children between the ages of 18 months and 3 years.

Stories in the Park Join Miss Lorie for Stories in the Park every Wednesday at noon beginning on July 10th. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch and listen to stories while they eat.

Summer Reading Begins June 22nd! Children are invited to sign up for the Read to Bead program. They will get a chain with a tag of their choice plus they can pick out a colored bead for every 15 minutes they spend reading. Teens can pick out a candy bar when they sign up for summer reading and get another candy bar for every 6 hours spent reading.

Storytime with a Firefighter

Stop by the Children's Section on Thursday July 11th at 1:00 and Thursday August 15th at 1:00 for a very special story time presented by a firefighter! All are welcome to both storytimes and no registration is required.

Adults and children are invited to submit a photo to our photo contest. The subject is Dighton, and any photograph taken in Dighton is eligible to be entered. Please no people or pets in the photograph. E-mail your photo to Ms. Lorie in the Children's Section in the Lower Level of the Town Hall to enter. The pictures will be laminated and then hung in our entry hallway. Each photo will be given a number so that everyone can vote for their favorite Dighton photograph.

Rules: - Include the name and contact information of the person entering the photo, age of the photographer, and the location where the photo was taken.
- E-mail the picture so it can be printed as an 8x10.
- Voting will end July 1st.
- You can vote every time you visit the Children's Section.
Prizes will be awarded to the winning Child's photo and Adult's photo!

July Meeting The next meeting of the Friends of the Dighton Public Library will be on Thursday July 18th at 6:30 in the Library's Children's Section located in the lower level of Dighton Town Hall. All are welcome, and we always welcome new friends. All you really need to do is love the library and join us for a few meetings a year to help brainstorm and plan great events!
